I have what I guess would be a general question that may indicate my personality type. There is a series that I like in which one particular character over 7 seasons missed 102 episodes. it can be told from the credits showing "credit only" that the actor missed it, but someone(s) put a trivia item on every 102 episode (out of 178) that the actor missed it.
Unfortunately this is a series that has a large fan base so there are lots of trivia items, and this just adds one that is superfluous and frankly becomes annoying when every episode has probably a dozen or more trivia items with this being in there..
So is this something that should bug me???
Wanted to do a fun one on a Fri afternoon.

Hi, MikeTheWhistle.

It depends on situation. If the trivia simply duplicates those data from the main section, such is useless and no need to keep, IMO.
But sometimes it may explain deeper to prevent further problems. For imaginary example, the trivia may explain that the "credit only" is granted to one person while another person has "uncredited" for the same job.

The item all 102 times is "Actor x does not appear."
I didn't note and should, that the particular actor was a regular cast member and in every ep they did not appear they are listed with "credit only". So if the person did not have the credit only notation already it'd make perfect sense and I'd understand it.
I think though we're on the same page.

If "Actor x does not appear." is all, we're on the same page ))
If the series is old enough, I presume those trivia might appear first before the "credit only" was generally invented in system.
Who knows what was then, but to report trivia for deletion is not a trivia task ;))

interesting point about when "credit only" was started that I had not thought of. I've used imdb for a long time but casually. more recently i've tried to give back some with trivia and goofs because i'm a jack of all-master of none and history buff, and i really dislike military errors because there are plenty of former military that could make shows correct on all points if they really wanted to.
but it sounds very possible someone went to all the trouble to credit all those trivia items only to subsequently have credit only added. that person who took the time to do that is no longer with us as they have to have gone to the funny farm upon seeing that.

thx. this was truly more of a question of whether my personality type was too tight and letting something bug me that shouldn't. I think it's duplicative, annoying, but i think someone gave me the answer which is that quite possibly they posted it before "credit only" was available. at least that makes sense to me and sounds like a good explanation.
