Actually, the guideline for characters is as follows:

-character Used to denote a character's appearance in a title. The formatting should be presented as the name of the character first, followed by "-character". So, for Star Wars, we'd list Han Solo as "Han-Solo-character". This can be used for both fictional characters, and fictional portrayals of real life people (including when someone is playing a fictionalized, scripted portrayal of themselves). Please note that if the character is recurring in a series the character keyword should only be added to the parent and not individual episodes.

Therefore, both "Mario" and "super-mario" should be changed to "super-mario-bros.-characters."

Hm, I think it's used for both the character Mario, and the Mario Bros. franchise.
Maybe we can change 'Mario' to 'super-mario-character', and leave 'Super Mario' as it is.

There's also "luigi," so both are included in the "super-mario-bros.-characters" keyword.

Mario and Luigi are separate characters, therefore each should have its own character equivalent and shouldn't be combined into super-mario-bros.-characters.

In the case of "Super Mario", that could refer to the world of Mario, somebody playing Super Mario, or the character so we shouldn't convert this unless a full audit has been completed.
