language preferences

How can I specify language preference?  I keep getting recommendations for films in French (I don't speak it), German (ditto) or even in languages I don't recognize at all.  How can I possibly watch these?  At least movies should say what language they're in, before I waste time on them!

IMDb provides localized titles by default, setting the title to match your location. If you want to receive titles for a specific country you need to select it in your Site Preferences.

Select the option you wish in the Title display country menu (a country or Original which shows the original title). If you choose an officially multilingual country, you should definitely also choose Title display language.

I believe that if no title has been entered for your selected Country, the system defaults to the Original title.

This is correct for the main site; I think there are sometimes problems with carrying this over to the apps.

Note that the language of the Title is often not the only language the film is available in.

They seem to have made it harder to find.

As far as I can tell, this needs to be done from the browser. If you are using the app, you can select any title or person, then click on View on IMDb.com at the bottom of the page.

Sign in to IMDb if you are not already logged in.

At the right side of the black banner at the top of almost every page on IMDb, you should see your IMDb Name. As you hover over this you should see a drop-dow menu. Click on Site Settings (the first item in the menu)

The new page should have a Quick Links group on the right side. Click on Your Account.

You may be asked to Sign in again. If you are, do so.

You should now be on the Your Account page. Click on Update general site preferences in the Preferences group.

You can how make your selection.

Or, if you click on this link: Update general site preferences it should get you to the desired page.

I have the same problem with czech language. The user preferencies work only on website not in the application. Czech distribution titles are often quite riddiculous. I want to see the movies on IMDB with original titles but this option is not available on my tablet or phone
