List comments NOT handled.

IMDb has limited list comments to Facebook users. If one does not use Facebook, one cannot comment on IMDb lists.

I had thought this issue was addressed and handled, but it is not.

I personally consider now & then closing my Facebook account. Then I would no longer be allowed to post comments to lists.

I would that IMDb not work in collusion with Facebook. Forcing people to Facebook is not optimum for users or IMDb. Certainly it's great for Facebook. But it's bad public relations for IMDb.

You've posted this as a question, but don't seem to have one. I'd recommend adding it as an "idea" or suggestion, once, then editing or adding comments rather than having, now, three threads on the same subject. A staffer will need to find these and merge them. Also, having it addressed in one thread will give an idea as to how many of us agree and want the same thing. Having votes on ideas spread over many threads doesn't help much.

I am on Facebook, but others who would comment on my lists, are not on Facebook. I doubt that IMDb pays any more attention to the other thread, since they consider it answered.

Suggestions can't really be "answered." Only a question can (there are different categories for a reason). If there is a specific reason it cannot be implemented, there might be an official response added which, in effect should end it. Suggestions don't get marked "solved" unless it's an idea that is already in place, but the person suggesting didn't know about it. If it's still possible and not already in place, users can add votes to get it seen/heard. Adding new threads usually means a staffer needs to merge them into one thread. It adds work for no benefit.

Further, flooding boards with the same message is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of the site. So, I'd be careful with it if you're locked into this way of expressing an idea.

Well I added this thread as a question, not a suggestion. I added it because IMDb posted the earlier thread as "answered", and thereby considered that question answered. So I started a new one, when it was pointed out that it was not fully answered. If IMDb or some staff consider that this issue is finished and chose to block me, then so be it. To me, that's just not confronting the issue and if they choose to do that, then I must accept it and go my way. I don't consider I am flooding this board with a message that is unanswered.

Emperor has offered a solution that may work. I must see it implemented first. I do not want to see my IMDb comments posted on Facebook such that others on Facebook can see them. To me that would be against my "Terms and Conditions" under which I post comments.

Facebook has all sorts of public. It has all political types, sports fans, financial groups, etc that know little and may care nothing about films. There is no reason to mix their comments with my comments on films or film personnel. Barbara Streisand is the best example. She is a fabulous singer and actress, but her politics are not mine at all. I would that comments on her politics not be on my lists about her films. If someone does put such a comment there, then so be it, but I would like to get around that as much as possible. Mainly I do not want IMDb forums to become political forums. That may happen to some degree, because I cannot control all of it, but as much as possible I would keep IMDb separate from Facebook.

I hope so too. And, the Streisand example makes a whole lot of sense too. I agree to your Terms and Conditions!

Well you've left comments in the Facebook plugin and selected the option not to post it to Facebook and it didn't, so it seems pretty safe. If you used your IMDB login to leave a comment in the FB plugin, they'd not know whether or not you were on FB, so couldn't post the comments even if there was a glitch with the opt out (which itself is unlikely). So you would be double protected that way.

There is my suggestion here:

Worth clarifying that the FB plugin does already allow Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL logins, so there is a precedent for this.

I received the following email indicating that I received a comment on one of my lists. I cannot see any comments, despite viewing the list on different computers and different browsers. I also see comments on another list (http://www.imdb.com/list/xuSrjxV6Y2o/). I wonder whether this is a bug with the email notification software or with Facebook's comment software.
