Why is there no Locations Department in the Crew List?
Why are Locations Department members listed in Other or Miscellaneous Crew?
Have you ever heard the phrase:
''No Location, No Picture'' ?

I find it very insulting that all other Departments get a section but Locations get swept to the bottom in something as random as Other Crew....
Without the a Locations Department 99.99% of movies would not get made... HELLO!!!
A little respect please and create a Sub-Category in Crew for the Locations Department PLEASE!!!!!

This is ridiculous!

Hi Mark Chikhani,

I am deferring to DavidAH_Ca's post, since a senior IMDb staff member answered the question:

Why is there no locations department in the crew listings?

If a production is filmed entirely on set, a location manager is not required. However, as you rightly point out a location manager is critical for productions that film on location. I became aware of the importance of a location manager after researching Changeling (2008) and Up in the Air (I) (2009).

The location manager was particularly critical to Up in the Air (I) (2009). According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_in_the_Air_%282009_film%29#Filming :
The film includes 80 different sets at 50 locations throughout the St. Louis area, including Lambert-St. Louis International Airport Concourse C and Concourse D.
The St. Louis media interviewed Joni Tackette (location casting) and the location manager, before, during and after production. IMDb lists John Latenser V under Other crew as the supervising location manager as does the New York times (http://www.nytimes.com/movies/person/943496/John-Latenser/filmography).

Location managers have their own professional society:
Location Managers Guild of America
http://locationmanagers.org/

I am not an IMDb staff member. I've used IMDb since 1992, before it became a website in 1996.
