Looking for a movie which I know the plot but not the title or actors?

The movie I'm looking for is set in Nazi Germany and it is about a film/theater director who has a colored mistress, which is barely tolerated at the time. He is torn between his love for her and sending her away, to Paris I think. Any help or hints would be appreciated.

Thanks Peter. Close but not the film I'm looking for. The colored mistress is the central part of the plot.

And although it is set in Germany it is an American or British film, if that helps.

I've just watched the trailer; looks an interesting and good movie and I'll try and watch it. However it's not the one I'm looking for. The director/producer in the movie is middle aged and I think the actor's name is German and begins with a 'B'.
