I might have asked something similar already, but I doubt it was a detailed and well-formulated question. So, I really wonder, whether main photographs of actors who don't have IMDb Pro and are stuck with photographs from other sources (usually promo photos from Title Scorecards) are ever reviewed and/or substituted if they're better fit? At least, I wonder whether it happens when something very portrait-like enter actor's gallery, like character poster or promo shoot with vertical orientation.
For example, while photograph of Milkhail Bondarev is far from being the worst case of miscropped main photo (especially when compared to Lawrence Sher) this one might be a better fit. Also, since Bondarev is a frequent collaborator of mine, I wonder whether uploading vertically oriented promotional photograph or poster will override current photograph.

Hi Nikolay -
To clarify the selection, when an individual has not claimed their page with an IMDbPro membership, our system will automatically select an image from their photo gallery (if there is one), due to this automated selection we don't always have the best primary, as is in the case for Lawrence Sher and your colleague, Mikhail Bondarev.
While we can't guarantee to make the change in every case, if there is a better primary for an individual you can make a request through our Contact Form following the path: IMDb Fan/Contributor questions -> Images & video -> Other image/video issues
For primary images, vertical/portrait images are preferred and display better than horizontal images.
I hope this helps, let us know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Nikolay, trying to understand this. How do you get a 'headshot' primary photo to show on a non-IMDbPro name page by using Title Scorecard?

Hello, JimmyPerone.
Title Scorecards are usually used by studio representatives to add official promotional pictures to IMDb. Such images end up in galleries of depicted, as well as those of titles. If actor does not have any chosen headshot uploaded via IMDb Pro, system automatically brings up one of the photograps from the gallery which are available. I'm not sure whether ratio is 50/50, but most of the deceased actors have photos from titles that way, although some pages are ran by their estates.
There is also a third type of the photograph - artifacts of IMDb's older services such as IMDb Resume and IMDb Posters. Unlike photographs from IMDb Pro and Title Scorecards you can't do anything to them if you're tagged in one, as they are dead set in the system.

Thanks for that, my cousin has a Title Scorecard, I'll get her to upload some photos and tag them onto the name.

JimmyPerone that's nice! Just make sure images are at least connected to titles in question through event. ;)

You've been a great help.
To go over it:
Upload photo by Title Scorecard into the title.
Tag with the actors name.
Photo will show as a 'headshot' on the actors free name page.

JimmyPerone it's rather hard to predict which of the uploaded photographs will be chosen for a headshot and in some odd cases none gets chosen from the options, but as long as something appropriate is uploaded first, headshot should appear soon and will be more or less fine.
