Hello,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1186830/board/thread/227195797
If you have a look at this thread, you will see it is full of deleted messages. There is an IMDB admin who's advocating a certain revisionist view of history, and who's deleting messages of his ideological opponents on the discussion boards. Users are being censored for expressing opinions that person does not like, without having committed any violations of the boards' rules of conduct.
This has been going on for a long time, and on an immense scale. This person is deleting whole threads, with multiple pages, when it becomes hard to hide the fact that too many individual posts have been deleted.
I've reported this many times to IMDB staff, but never got any response, or even an acknowledgement that they received my complaint.
Thanks,
S>

I was well aware of illegal deletions, along with many others on The Passion of the Christ boards and the Expelled boards. I complained frequently with no responses. The most I got was a confirmation of receipt of my complaint, and the occasional message saying "we are aware it has been 48 hours since your wrote...we will get back to you as soon as we can..." etc.
The deletions seem to have lulled at the moment, but we cannot be sure and we have had no explanation as to why so many deletions occurred especially when the bulf were well within the parameters of teh rules.

There is no such thing as an "illegal deletion". Terms of Service to which all users agree upon signing up to IMDb provides that IMDb reserves the right to remove content at their discretion. They also have no obligation whatsoever to provide explanations or reasons for deletions and seldom, if ever, do so. IMDb does not pro-actively monitor the Message Boards and any deletions made are as a response to "Abuse Reports" made by other users. If IMDb determines that a User or Users are filing false abuse reports they MAY suspend that User from using the boards at all but they are not obligated to do so.

"There is no such thing as an "illegal deletion"."
Call it what you will - posts and threads were deleted that did not contravene any board rules, were not off-topic. Wrongful deletions, if you will. Terminology is subjective.
"IMDb does not pro-actively monitor the Message Boards and any deletions made are as a response to "Abuse Reports" made by other users."
Then perhaps you could explain why so many posts and threads by numerous people were being deleted systematically within a short period of time, regardless of time zone. You could then explain why when actual abuses are reported that they are not deleted, if this system is simply an auto response to reports of abuse.
You could also explain that despite the fact that these deletions were reported frequently, by many users, over a period of over a month no action was taken, and promises of responses were never followed up by the IMDB admins. I have a couple of dozen of these messages:
Hi there,
This is just a note to let you know that although it's almost been
48 hours since you sent in your message, we haven't forgotten about
you!
We strive to answer all questions within 48 hours, but due to the large number
of questions we have right now we're afraid we may have
to go over a bit this time. :(
Please hang in there and we'll be getting back to you as quickly
as we possibly can!
Our apologies again, and we appreciate your understanding.
How many times did they "get back" to me? Never. Not once.

No doubt these queries will also be ignored, demonstrating once again that IMDB do not actually pay attention to or care about their users.

LuvsToResearch - I understand that IMDB can do whatever they want with any of my content and with me, and that I should be thankful that they even let me visit their site (not to mention make posts on it) instead of complaining about such trifles as First Amendment violations.

ACK...clarifying what I was responding to is not implying it was a private exchange. You're misunderstanding completely. You reacted as if my reply was to you and it was not.
"But you're clearly skirting the issues and have offered no explanations"
I actually did. But, even if I had not, what makes you think I am required to?
I kind of see why you're having trouble getting along with others. One exchange with you and you've got me looking for the "ignore" button...
Good luck to you, sir.

Really? I suggest you read by previous post again:
"sysstematic deletions, TARGETED deletions from a variety of benign users s not erring on the side of caution. Many individual users deleted from a thread - not the entire thread, just every single poster apart from the original poster. That doesn't wash - it's a lame and untenable excuse."
Funny, I don't see a response to this...
"One exchange with you and you've got me looking for the "ignore" button..."
just what I expect when you fail to address the issue. Ignore seems to be the keyword with IMDB...like all the ignored messages (funnily, you ignored that point too.)

Yup. That and getting trolled by 'innocent bystanders'.

Have you noticed how every time you raise this issue a bunch of posters come to make excuses and take the subject off topic? There are also quite a few users that share a similar style of spin-with-ad-hominem. I keep seeing them here, calling me paranoid for pointing out what they are doing.

Indeed. Note how the issues are ignored in favor of an ad-hom attack. Note the standard excuses which actually don't explain the deletions...
