Merging two people who are the same

Hello,

I've submitted for the two following people (both me) to be merged:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3779824
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5462819
I followed the advice on the help pages which said to change the name of the one I didn't want to keep to the name of the one I did want to keep. This has had exactly the opposite effect to what I had planned - the page which has my photos (which I have paid to have the privilege of uploading) has had its credits removed, and the one which I wanted to be effectively deleted has had those credits added. I now have a credit-less page with a picture and a different one with credits but no picture, when my aim was to get rid of the one with no credits or picture (obviously).

Is this just something that happens during processing, or is it a mistake?

Thanks.

Since both your pages have the same name, just different roman numerals attached, you should submit a Name Correction on the Edward Davis (X) page to change the name there to Davis, Edward (VIII).

Go to the Edward Davis (X) page and click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Name Correction or Merge line, select "Add correction". Scroll down and click "Continue".

On the next screen, in the blank box, enter your name as:
Davis, Edward (VIII)

There will be a box marked "Preserve previous name on existing credits. i.e. (as Edward Davis)" Uncheck that box -- it doesn't apply in this case.

There will be a space to enter an explanation. Enter something like "I am Edward Davis, and all of the information on both Edward Davis (VIII) and Edward Davis (X) refers to me. The pages should be merged into one page." Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will get a warning that says, "You are about to merge two separate name pages into one. Are you sure you want to merge this person with Davis, Edward (VIII)?" That's what you want to do, so check the box marked "Warning understood, go ahead anyway." Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, your data submission should appear with a green background and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

Good luck!

Thanks for this, but this is the exact same process that got me here in the first place.

Maybe it'll work a second time.

Not to worry, it looks like it was just a processing thing and it's sorted now. Thanks.
