Minimum number of lines/characters for user reviews

There used to be a minimum number of lines people needed to write before a user review could be submitted. Based on the very recent ones that have been written for Dear White People (you can see them here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5707802/reviews?start=0), there's apparently no longer such a requirement. Why is that?  And can you turn the policy back please?

It says the minimum is five lines. Is lines defined as sentences here? Because if not, on my laptop screen, about half of all the 72 reviews for Dear White People is shorter than five lines.
Some examples that have been added within the past week:
Netflix is going full SJW, such a shame! I highly recommend this show to the radical left. Another great show for the SJW's on Netflix is Bill Nye's new show. I am sure you will enjoy it! To each their own.
If this is the path netflix is going down with it's service count me out.. This show is horridly unfunny, poorly acted, poorly written, and is insanely unreliable. It's time we start having respect for other as men and women, and not (insert color here) men and women.
The reason I gave this show a chance was because of its Title. I knew nothing about it but thought at least it would stir something up. It didn't. Not funny and pretty boring. Shock titles aren't a replacement for bad writing and lame humor. There's a million better ways to waste an hour or two.
the problem is not that this is cutting edge but this is standard Hollywood treatment no even mildly unattractive people. This Means that the true struggle is hard to believe the story line. except for the true white supremacist who see any Afrocentric story as racism. this as mild as Gouda cheese

The submission preview breaks lines at around 70 characters. Anything that exceeds four full lines seems to be accepted by the form.

The first review you quoted is not long enough, so I don't know how that got through, but I don't see it on the page anymore.

I am going to agree with Marco on this one because since this thread began, the minimum length has been reduced even further. According to https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/user-review-guidelines/GABTWSNLD...#:

"The minimum length for reviews is 50 characters, however reviews of 200 to 500 characters are typically the most valuable to our users."

Cutting the minimum length down so far tends to produce a larger number of superficial reviews that don't really tell a reader anything useful. For example, here is one user's review, in full, of Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi:
Worst Star Wars movie so far
If you have seen it, you know what I am talking about...
How does that even qualify as a review? Reviews are usually intended to provide some insight to people who haven't seen the movie.

Nor should IMDb imply that a review of more than 500 characters is less valuable to users. A good reviewer might just be getting started upon hitting the 500 character mark.

I realize that some users wanted the minimum length to be reduced below 10 lines, but I think that IMDb has taken this too far. If a user has nearly nothing to say about a film, maybe they should wait until they can think of a bit more to say before they submit a user review. It would be better to shift the focus toward quality of user reviews as opposed to quantity of user reviews.

Thanks for pointing this out Gromit.
I tried to earlier on a different thread, but that didn't do anything: https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/review-requirements.

(for those wonder, my message above has 168 characters)

It makes sense since they want to make reviewing from mobile App possible...

It only makes sense if you believe it is possible to write a review in 50 characters. I think that is humanly impossible and can never happen. I guess IMDb & mobile users and I have a very different definition of what a review is.
Currently, I think IMDb is not taking its customers seriously because they are dumbing this section down as if all mobile users of the site are ten year olds.

Some very useful user reviews for the new Pixar short Bao (2018):
Great animated short, this is Pixar at its best. I really enjoyed it, and so will you.
What? What?! WHAT?!?!?!? (I'm adding this because IMDB said that the review was to short)"
2 Damn hours had to explain what happened when mother ate her child to my son
I literally started laughing in the theatre. It made no sense.
