Missing Information

There's no reason that Julie should be going through so many headaches having her professional credentials presented as she wishes as a paying member. I've submitted updates to a project I produced and directed and have no idea why some of the new information has been added and other information submitted during the same update information are still missing for over two weeks from submission. There's not much incentive to stick around as pro members when IMDB makes simple matters so difficult.

Hi Jerry,

I forked your reply from Julie's issue for our team to help out. Do you happen to have the contribution numbers for the unpublished data you've referenced?

Yes, thank you.

I submitted updated information for several producers and associate producers on the film I produced and directed, "Solstice" (1993), only one was added (Al Croke). He wasn't in the IMDB database until I added him in my submission while the other name submissions do have other credits associated with them for their respective bodies of work except their credits as producers and associate producers to the title "Solstice" has not been added. Why Al was added but the others weren't along with other updates didn't make sense.

Here are the contributions 180112-090332-429000

Editorial Department -  1 credit added (not showing)
Producers -  14 credits added (11 of the 14 submitted not showing except the aforementioned Al Croke)
Sound Department -  1 credit added (not showing)
Visual Effects -  1 credit added (not showing)
Gross -  1 item added (showing)

I'm also seeing pages created for people I added (i.e. in "special thanks") but their pages don't reflect any credits at all to the credit update I submitted (look up Vivian Vougiouklaki as one example) from submission 180112-091020-712000

Editorial Department -  2 credits added (not showing)
Sound Department -  2 credits added (1 not showing)
Thanks -  6 credits added (none showing although some names have had pages added to the IMDB database with no credits)
Visual Effects -  2 credits added (none showing)

These were all resubmitted on the 19th to try and get the updates to stick.

This update did post like the information on the gross did from 180112-090332-429000

 180112-091300-462000

I produced and own the film so the information is coming straight from the horse's mouth.

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your message. I've just taken a look and your submissions to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134108/ unfortunately breach our policies as they relate to a separate cut of the movie and not the original released film as it first aired. Do the live producer credits you have added and been accepted to the title relate the original release or are they also involved with the director's cut? If so these are also ineligible and should be removed from the title.

I hope this helps to explain the situation.

Regards,
Will

This is not a separate cut, it is a 25th Anniversary Director's Edition of this film restored from the original camera negative elements scanned in 2K and will be the highest quality definitive and only  available version of the film from this point forward as the original standard definition analogue edition was generated from a one inch broadcast master in the 1990's is not able to be projected or broadcast in HD. All of these updated credits are reflected on the 25th anniversary edition on the 2K prints being generated. Financing tiers of the restoration equaled contractually binding producing and associate producing credits that need to be reflected in the credits for the film on IMDB.

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for confirming, unfortunately our policies remain the same for any later version credits regardless of type if it wasn't the original release. In light of this I've also removed the additional producer credits from the title.

Thank you for understanding.

Actually I don't understand. When restored editions of films are generated with other people doing work on them, you're telling me the people responsible for the work are not recognized with a credit for their contributions by IMDB? All of these new credits are reflected in the end title crawl of the restored edition.

Your explanation isn't consistent in the example of  restored editions of the "Star Wars" original trilogy:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ql_1

Star Wars has a ton of credits for the 1997 special edition added to it.

As does Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" for it's 2007 edition:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ql_dt_1

 "E.T." for it's 2002 "special version":

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083866/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ql_dt_1

There can't be two standards for restored big budget films and restored indie films.

What do you recommend for properly crediting the people responsible for the restored edition as with these cited examples? I see some of these examples inconsistent as well with lots of artists that did restoration work "uncredited" while others are identified as contributing to the restored or special editions.

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for providing the examples. Sadly we do not currently have the functionality to provide version support though this is something we would like to offer at some point in the future. This isn't in any current road map though, apologies.  In light of this we are retaining existing credits to migrate once this feature has become available however we are not accepting any new credits until this solution has been implemented.

That doesn't answer the question why the examples I cited have version support while you are saying I cannot add credits for people who earned them the same way.
And that some of the submissions were approved before you now say you are removing them is a completely arbitrary move on your part since it's clear this isn't automated and a previous editor had no problem updating in some instances with the added information.

If IMDB Pro cannot provide proper accreditation equal across the board to all titles like the samples I cited then I see no reason to renew my monthly pro membership and will cancel before the next cycle then.

Hi Jerry,

Apologies for the removal of the acting credit relating to the original version, this was a mistake on my part and has now been reinstated on the title. Our position remains the same regarding the credits relating to the 25th Anniversary Director's Edition.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why I canceled and will never pay for IMDB Pro again.

Don't ever solicit me to subscribe again. Your policy inconsistencies and refusal to answer a straight question don't instill any confidence in your responsibilities equally serving all producers and filmmakers or the people who put their time, money and energy into a film.
