Hi all,

I'm a huge IMDb fan. So I would love to develop a mobile application using the movie showtimes information, synopse and rating from IMDb.
The app would be free to the users, only supported for ads.

Am I allowed to implement this?

Thank you for your time.

The IMDB app already displays showtimes, so I'm unsure what you are bringing to the table. Also IMDB doesn't have an API so there is no easy way to access their information.

You might be better of looking around for a freely available source.

This:

Links to Google's API:

So you might be able to make that work for you.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm interested in IMDb data, mainly its movie ratings.
I do not consider another sources as a viable option.

So, what I am trying to discover is if I am allowed to use IMDb data in this project.

Anyone kow how I can forward this question to someone of the IMDb staff please?

Thanks

Please refer to the following link: http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?us...

Currently, IMDb is in the process of making a public API available for users. So you would be able to use this to create your own app as long as it is declared that it is not affiliated with IMDb, but please read the terms and conditions above to determine if your app is viable.

This is good to hear. Is there a vague ETA on when it will appear? I have a basic app I'd like to create (mostly for myself, but would probably put it freely on the iOS app store) using movies, ratings, genres and ideally a users watch list. It would be much easier to use a IMDb api, than having to use the database files. (That said I am grateful that the files are there to begin with)

So the short answer is yes, as long as you meet the conditions stated in that link.
