Moderating the forums

Is there anyone moderating the movie forums?

Quick answer: No.

Longer answer: IMDB doesn't have people moderating forums, they rely on users to submit reports of abuse and their systems rumble into life. Report and ignore is really the best anyone can advise at the moment.

This makes me not want to use the site anymore as intelligent discussions on movies is impossible

I understand how you feel - IMDB has a bit of reputation as a bear pit and I did avoid posting on busy forums for a while. The vast majority of them are not as bad as their reputation suggests and quite a lot of them are actually friendly (the horror forum seems to work well, despite the occasional bit of friction that you'd get anywhere) but there are some that are hell holes that we hear about here. Usually, recent high profile films (often with a rabid fanbase) or where people have recently died.

I will brush off one of my ideas for a suggestion (smoke jumping moderators) and run it up the flagpole to see how many people salute.

I too would answer no to the OP's question.

IMDB just can't or won't moderate it's forums effectively- I suspect this is for cost reasons.
