More keyword merging

I've been merging most of the keywords manually but some have just too many titles attached to make it an easy process to merge some of these. (It would be nice if we could edit and merge keywords on a page similar to the one for names.)

reference-to-spiderman should be merged into reference-to-spider-man (note that spider-man is the correct one even though it has fewer titles attached.)

reference-to-mozart should be merged into reference-to-wolfgang-amadeus-mozart

I'm going to post these again from another thread since nothing seems to have been done (or maybe they just weren't noticed.)

u.s.-mexico-border
u.s.-mexican-border
us-mexican-border
mexican-american-border

mexican-border should probably be merged into this group as well, though it is non-specific (Mexico only has two borders and this being a US based site, it probably means the US/Mexico border and not the Mexico/Guatemala border which also has a keyword.)

Thanks.

Hi Adrian,

I've combined reference-to-spiderman and reference-to-spider-man but I've merged reference-to-wolfgang-amadeus-mozart into reference-to-mozart as this is a term that users are much more likely to search for, if you see these search results http://www.imdb.com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=reference-to-mozart&s=kw reference-to-wolfgang-amadeus-mozart isn't even displayed as an option for this search result.

I've also merged mexican-american-border into u.s.-mexico-border, there are no titles referencing u.s.-mexican-border and us-mexican-border.

I've left mexican-border as it is.

Regards,
Will

If searching for reference-to-mozart doesn't lead to a list of options that includes reference-to-wolfgang-amadeus-mozart, doesn't that mean the keyword search function should be tweaked?
An example: searching for reference-to-kennedy doesn't give reference-to-john-f.-kennedy (http://www.imdb.com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=reference-to-kennedy&s=kw). Changing reference-to-john-f.-kennedy to reference-to-kennedy obviously isn't an option because John wasn't the only well known Kennedy. So, instead of making keywords more ambigious (there are also keywords like reference-to-constanze-mozart and reference-to-leopold-mozart) by removing first names, I think you should focus on tweaking the keyword search instead.

Just curious as to how long it takes for the pages to update.

Hi both,

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately as stated on the other keyword thread there are no current plans in our roadmap to invest in this area and it is unlikely to be prioritized at any point soon. I take your point regarding the ambiguous nature of reference-to-mozart. For the sake of consistency I've changed this back to reference-to-wolfgang-amadeus-mozart which will show up if Mozart is used as a search term.

Will

That's a pity, because it's a section of the database that can benefit a lot from a bit of attention.

Thanks a bunch!
