So, since yesterday "the greatest movie of all time" according to IMDb ratings has received more than 300 votes. Not bad for an obscure 1975 turkish movie. Now, serious, how does IMDb still believes that a movie like that could maintain an incredible 9.5 rating with more than 25000 votes without some kind of fraud? That's absolutely impossible. C'mon, IMDb. Please. Now, every time that someone will use the advanced title search to find out which one is the greatest movie with more than 25000 votes, the winner will be The Chaos Class, followed not so closely by The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather. Do you really will maintain things that way? Do you really think that the turkish people would organize themselves to put this movie in that position? It is an obvious fraud, IMDb. And probably perpetrated by one single person. Please, you must keep the credibility of your ratings system. Thanks.

Hi Angelo Pilla,

Michelle (An Official IMDb representative) answered your question three weeks ago.

The rating displayed on a title is a weighted average, and our voting system has several built-in safeguards against attempts to influence the rating via automated voting; other than applying those safeguards, it is our policy not to delete or modify ratings, or otherwise prevent our users from freely expressing their opinion of a film via their vote.
In addition, you should be careful in drawing any conclusions using an advanced title search.

1. The Chaos Class (1975) is not in the Top Rated Movies (AKA the IMDb Top 250).
2. With only 25,318 votes, the film just barely satisfies the minimum number of votes to be eligible for the IMDb Top 250. The votes from regular users are likely to be much lower.
3. This Advanced Title search currently does not show The Chaos Class (1975). It does show up with a lower vote threshold:
Highest Rated Feature Films With At Least 25,000 Votes

4. The demographics for The Chaos Class (1975) indicate that it may be a regional favorite that does not translate beyond the borders of Turkey and non-US males under the age of 30.

Thanks for the answer, by I still think that there is some kind of fraud. Yesterday, The Chaos Class was still behind the 25000 votes mark. It gained more than 300 votes in just one day. I've been monitoring this movie performance and it was receiving around 15-20 votes a day. Some months ago, I've warned IMDb about another sudden flood of votes to The Chaos Class. They probably recognized that there was something wrong, since the votes flood stopped and the problem has appeared as "solved". Now, here we go again: another unexplainable flood of votes to that movie, which already have an hardly possible 9.5 average rating for a relatively high number of votes. (sorry for my english)

First please see http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?votestopfaq

We already have various fraud detection / prevention systems.  We have examined the vote patterns for this title and can find no evidence of foul play, sorry.  It could be part of a local campaign to gain votes, however, as explained in the FAQ each registered account is entitled to vote once for any released title on IMDb.
