This one is a long shot. Several years ago I saw a movie, on Amazon prime, I think. It was very indie and low-budget, and was about a teenager who acquired the ability to bring dead animals back to life. Maybe humans, too, can't remember. The first incident was a bird that flew into a window of his house and died. He picked the bird up, and a few minutes later, it flew away. Then later he came across a dead cat. He petted it, and suddenly it got up and was fine. This kid had a sister who was close to his age. He told her about his power, but they didn't tell their parents.
In the end, something happened, he made a decision to do something important (sorry, I don't remember the details), and the consequence was that he lost his resurrection power. And then the animals he had resurrected went back to being dead.
This wasn't a superhero movie, and it wasn't sci-fi or horror. It was just a drama. I think the title had the word "son" in it, but don't hold me to that. :)

I found out what the movie was: Son of the Sunshine. It’s from Canada. And the important thing he needed to do, which robbed him of his healing touch, was to have brain surgery for his severe Tourette’s syndrome. I don’t know how I managed to forget about the Tourette’s, because it was a major plot point in the first part of the movie. I was right that his sister was the only other person who knew about his ability, but not because he chose to tell her about it. It was because he saved her life with his gift when they were kids.
Now that I remember the name of the movie, I don’t know where to watch it. It’s not on Amazon anymore, and I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else.
Am I supposed to mark this as “solved” anywhere? I don’t see anything about that on this page. Thanks.
