Movie Connections galore - Poster in rooms of characters in TV series

If a prominent character in a tv series has a poster of a film in his or her room that we see in quite some episodes, shouldn't the movie connection for that poster only be listed at the series level instead of the episode level? After all, the reference to the movie isn't shown in just one episode, but rather, in a whole bunch of episodes throughout several seasons.

Two examples that clutter up the movie connections section because of this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0019079/movieconnections (all the references to Friends) and https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052311/movieconnections (all the references to House M.D.).

Well, if the reference is really featured in the episode it would be a bit unfair not to have it there. The whole point of the section is to (ideally) trace the most of references made to a title in other titles.

What if the character redecorates/moves and no longer displays the poster after episode n? Or only added it to their room at episode m?

And if it's not listed at the episode level, how does a user find an episode where they can see the poster on the wall?

You are the expert
Would it help to add "Movie Poster" to episode KeyWords ?

https://www.imdb.com/find?&q=Movie+Poster&s=kw
Displaying 1 results for "Movie Poster"
movie-poster (128 titles)

 ? ?

I do not use KeyWords

I was offering reasons to keep the connections data on the episode level, and phrased them as questions.

A keyword doesn't provide the link between episode and poster for a particular title, as the connection data does.

Thanks for the responses. For the record, I don't have a strong opinion on the case, I was just wondering what IMDb wants to do with these situations.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for your post.

Whilst I appreciate how messy it can make certain pages look, moving poster references to the parent series would remove granular data which allows users to pinpoint specific episodic references.

For shows with changing locations on an episodic basis or a series basis you would lose the ability to figure out in which episodes/seasons certain references were spotted.

Hope this helps.

I think this is an area where grouping could help the display. Maybe the page should show the series and have the series expandable to show which episodes are applicable.

That would be marvelous, but I wouldn't hold my breath for this feature if I were you.

It would have been great, but it might take ages to implement and test. Though, as it was more or less seamlessly done with filmographies, it might be done, I guess.
