Movie titles keep appearing in German

I have changed the title display country to "US" and title display language to "English" but I still keep getting titles in German. How can this be fixed? I don't live in Germany, and I certainly don't speak German. I just want the original titles because my own language (Dutch) is not available on IMDb.

We assume that your are referring to the IMDb website rather than any of the apps?

In that case, please visit https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb/siteprefs and try pressing the "Update" button at the bottom to force a refresh of the local cookie settings from the site settings database.

If there are still problems please can you provide a list of 3-5 titles which are not displaying properly and also a screen-grab of one of them.

A good place to test is http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

Thank you for your reply. The problem is on the IMDb website. Pressing the update button does not help. Some examples are:

"The Great Gatsby" appears as "Der Grosse Gatsby"
"Once upon a time in America" appears as "Es war einmal in Amerika"
"In the name of the father" appears as "Im Namen des Vaters"
etc...

This is indeed very annoying...
I have the same problem, but I get the titles in Portuguese, which is where I live, but it's not what I want. I don't even have my browser configured to Portuguese because I like to read everything in English.

My IMDb settings
Title display country: United States
Title display language: English

It works fine for movies like:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3183630/releaseinfo

But not for:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2217859/releaseinfo

The problem seems to be that IMDb has a "USA" title for the first movie, so it picks that one, but with the second movie, it doesn't have a title for "USA" and instead of picking "(original title)" it will actually use IP address information and decides to display the title from the region it thinks I am.

This behaviour is really annoying. Please, IMDb, fix this.

Thanks, the information has been very useful and we are looking at this now.  We have a workaround since you wrote:

Over on https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb/siteprefs please set the "Title display country" to "Original" (second option on the menu) and the "Title display language" to "English" and press the "Update" button.  This will override all the location settings and display all titles in their original language from their country of origin

Different problems I guess.
My problem is I want the title in english / united states, but it still displays them in Portuguese for some titles. I gave an example above. I hope they fix this...

This is going to take some time to fix properly, however, setting your preferences to original titles will work better for you in the meantime.

Oh, I see, thanks.
I'm glad you guys are willing to fix it, though.
I would suggest to add 1/2 extra comboboxes on the options, sort of a priority system, so when the site doesn't find a title for a specific country, it would fallback to whatever the user has set for secondary country etc
