"Chicago Fire" (2012) {Sacred Ground (#8.1)} My review: Even more serious errors than low smoke volume or facial hair on firefighters, falls in the consistently flawed depiction of Paramedics operating far, far outside EMS protocols. As a 30-year Paramedic myself, my partners and I find it continuously irritating that Chicago Fire's medics never contact their Base ER before advanced treatment; never file EMS reports; never indicate that when it comes to patient care, their true "boss" is not the fire department at all, but in fact is the county EMS system. And the idea that a young lady physician resident, who was dismissed from a physician program, would EVER qualify to work as a licensed Paramedic, just because she was a "doctor-in-training", is laughable. The typical MD would have literally no idea how to function in the field. Certainly this otherwise excellent program has medical consultants on set. It's a shame the directors don't bother listening to the pros.
Unfortunately, the review editiors do not say which guideline was in error, so I have no way to correct my submission. Would appreciate any guidance you can offer. Thanks.
