I'm looking for ways to post new messages on here. I guess I'll have to keep IMDB.com open in another browser while I post on this board?

It also appears to have replaced "IMDb Info" which was phased out over a number of years.

Hey Col, while you took the time to reply here, did you happen to notice the THOUSANDS of other posts by loyal IMDb users who are deeply affected by the boards closing? For a good majority of us, the community message boards where a vital part of the IMDb experience. You keep referring to data and stats that support the decision to close them. Obviously based on the enormous backlash, your data is incorrect. It might be a good time to admit that an error was made, and seriously consider reopening the boards with all previous content intact. Any further delay will most likely result in losing larger numbers of us by the hour. I know I'll be jumping ship very soon, and this makes me incredibly sad. It's so frustrating to witness firsthand just how incredibly out of touch administration is from their audience and customers. Goodbye.

Thanks, Kevin. Dark days, indeed. As we know, IMDb is hard-wired to Amazon as direct advertising, so now that the Message Boards have been shut down, IMDb is just another profit channel. Rental prices for movies on Amazon have skyrocketed at the same time. The rental prices have been hiked surrealistically high to make the cost approach the purchase price, so customers will just say "it's only a few dollars more to buy it" and then, the classic, involuntary up-sell is complete. Now, all roads lead here, more money.
The loss of IMDb's Message Board was horrible. That was the most treasured part of the service for the folks who helped make IMDb as popular as it is today. When they say they are removing the Boards to "better serve" the millions (or is it the minions?) of unwashed masses, it really means, 'we don't need you intelligent people that helped create us any more, now we just care about the money'. They talk about how the "trolls" ruined the Message Boards. In our modern world, we are again expected to accept great loss on account of the few, lowest common denominators. Goodbye IMDB. Enjoy your money.

I will really miss the message boards! People may be using social media in the place of the message boards, but I don't enjoy social media sites. The message boards were such a rich source of ideas and exchanges of viewpoints for me, so dense in content and so well organized and perusable, without all the cumbersome accouterments of social media sites. A great, great loss indeed! This is going to take some getting used to.
