My list went from 200+ titles to 13 after I ticked 3 and clicked "DELETE"

Hello,

I was updating my list 25-35 minutes ago. At first, I moved a few titles a little higher, a few a bit lower, and clicked "SAVE LIST ORDER". After that everything was still fine. There were 200+ movies on the list. Not sure how many exactly, probably somewhere between 240 and 270. Then I wanted to delete 3 titles, I ticked those 3, scrolled up, it said "3 selected", and I clicked "DELETE". After that I couldn't believe my eyes, I did a double-take, triple-take... There are now just 13 titles on that list. More than 200 movies disappeared. I probably don't have to tell you that I definitely did not tick 220-260 movies, that would take me a lot longer than those 10 or so seconds it took me to tick the 3 I actually ticked. And I'm 100% sure it did say "3 selected". Please, it took me a long time to make that list, and I added most of the titles 1-2.5 years ago. Please, can you restore it? And maybe tell me what happened and why? Also, why did it decide to keep those particular 13 titles? I'd like to know if I should be worried. Is there a new bug that can do this whenever I try to delete a few titles from a list. Should I not touch my lists for a few weeks now, before it hopefully gets fixed? Thank you.

Edit: In case it might help with fixing this issue, I found part of an answer to my "why did it decide to keep those particular 13 titles?" question. All the 13 titles the site decided to keep were the most recent ones, added "10 Feb 2020". It deleted everything added between "02 Jun 2017" and "09 Feb 2020".

You might get a faster response if you contact IMDb directly:

The only option under "Lists" that lets you actually e-mail them is "Report a user list". That might not exactly help my situation. One of the worst help/contact forms I've ever seen. :(

How long does it (actually) usually take someone from IMDb to answer/ fix a simple issue? Restoring the list to the way it was (let's say 2-3h) before the problem occurred should be pretty straightforward, probably just a few clicks. When I sent the e-mail it said 24h. Well, it's been almost 168h since I posted here and sent the e-mail. :(

Hi Stop You Dogs,

Can you confirm if this issue is still persisting?

Thanks.

Hi, Taylor.

I'm sorry, I sort of gave up 11-13 days after I posted and e-mailed. I did keep checking my e-mail every day or two, though, I just stopped checking here. Every time I saw no e-mail from IMDb, I assumed nothing changed and didn't check the list till now. The list is back to normal now, I'm very happy about that. But I can't tell you who fixed it or when, since I got no e-mail or message. For the same reason, I'm still wondering why it happened. And more importantly, I'm worried it will happen again. Not sure if I can try and change that list now, or any of my lists, really, I'm quite nervous. I'd appreciate some feedback or explanation. Thank you.

Edit: I just noticed this was moved from "Problem" to "Question". Why? The IMDb page does have some kind of a bug that caused 250 titles to be deleted from my list for no reason 3 weeks ago. That definitely is a problem. The fact that someone from IMDb anonymously fixed it (apparently 7-9 days ago) does not change that.

Stop You Dogs,
The only reason I checked your list on 7March is because I got the email notification of Taylor's post. Either you've turned off email notifications on Get Satisfaction, or the message went into your Spam folder.

I can't speak to why this happened. I don't recall this being something I'd heard of before. (P.S. I'm NOT an IMDb employee, just a fellow user.)

To be safe, you might want to Export each of your changing lists from time to time. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to Export them all at once, just each one at a time.

 bderoes,

Thank you for trying to help. I will try to export my lists before I change them from now on since nobody from IMDb will tell me anything... what exactly happened, why, was the issue/bug itself fixed, how to prevent it from happening again in case it wasn't... nothing. So exporting lists every day or two it is.

I emailed IMDb Customer Service the same day I posted here (I think you were the one who advised me to do so). I got the automatic reply of "We will email you back when we receive an update on this" soon after that, so 3 weeks ago. But nobody ever emailed me. That's what I meant. An actual email from Customer Service. Not a notification.

And as far as GetSatisfaction goes, I never really got a proper response here from IMDb either, did I? The "Problem" got moved to "Question" and to add an insult to injury, the "Question" was marked as "Answered" without actually being answered. I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting more than that. Very disappointed. Again. I guess I should just get used to it when it comes to IMDb.

Thank you again, bderoes. And be safe, wherever you are.
