I'd like to know why my profile no longer appears in a search of my name, Patrick Taylor. It used to appear as Patrick Taylor (III) but no longer. Why is this? I depend on this functionality to get work. Fix this immediately.

Patrick: I don't see the problem. If someone searches for "patrick taylor" they will get a page like http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=patrick%20taylor&ref_=nv_sr_sm. From there, one can click on "Exact name matches" and get the full list of people whose name is Patrick Taylor at http://www.imdb.com/find?q=patrick+taylor&s=nm&exact=true&ref_=fn_al_nm_ex.

On the latter page, I see your name in the list as:
Patrick Taylor (III) (Visual Effects, The Matrix Reloaded (2003))

And your name page is at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0852986/.

As there are about 20 people in IMDb named Patrick Taylor, it may be necessary to search through the full list to find your name, but it is there as far as I can tell.

Why must people now click on Exact Name Matches to see my profile name, when this was not the case before? Previously, a search would bring up my name in the first list of people. Now it no longer does. Why? What has changed?

Probably what has happened is that more people have been added who have the name Patrick Taylor or a variant of it.

When you make a general search (option All), the system restricts the result to just 10 names, to allow all possible types to be shown on a reasonably short page. Since there are actually 20 people with the name Patrick Taylor plus 1 Patrick Alan Taylor with an AKA of Patrick Taylor about half of them are not shown, and you appear to be in that group.

If you restrict the original search to Names, you show up in the list at position 25 of 89.  I am not positive what criteria they use to order the results, but I expect that STARmeter forms a large part of it, and with a current rank of 2,083,479 you are likely to have several others in front of you.

Thanks for your reply. While I believe that same names should be listed based on the order they signed up for the service (that would put me at #3), I guess that's what I get for not having as unique a name as I thought I did, and not working on a succession of Avatar's and Titanic's.
