My account has been blocked for some reason. I think its because my mum accessed my account from Australia. I need it unblocked! I have tried re signing up and everything! What do I do?

At what point, or based on what message, are you "blocked?" Can you log in? If so, when you try to post, do you get a message that you need to authenticate?

What, exactly are you seeing, and on what page/or what activity are you on when it happens?

For staff to check or comment on your account status, you should send a note directly to them as they might need to ask your security question, etc., to verify you own the account. Use this form http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/contact_...

And Luvs... yes I realise I could bookmark it, I am accustomed with that technological feature ;)
However, the day they change the URL again, the link won't work again.
Since the two decades I've been a member, I've sent a maybe a dozen requests to the help desk, it never used to be complicated. I was just hoping that there would be a direct link between Helpdesk, and the Contact_us form... which has disappeared.

This one doesn't seem resolved...thus not closed.

The links lead here where you have two choices. For most issues, they're resolved faster by posting here. The other options are the billing page or the direct contact form. It the link went straight to the form, no one would post here and the queue would be very long.

In the other thread, you said you don't want to post here but contact staff. So what's the reason it should remain open?

I meant the new thread to be what you're asking here, not adding to the old issue which you've stated you don't want to receive replies from people who are not staff.

Well it was closed before I was even able to test the solution... that was too fast.

As for long queues... considering the amount of time required by this split exchange, the direct link was always way more efficient :(
The last time I had accessed the Contact_us form was in August 2013... it was a direct link back then.

So regarding the Contact_us form... I'm not sure if I am clear on this...
...the answer then is: NO ? The link is NO longer available on IMDB pages, only via GetSatisfaction?
That is far from a transparent approach to customer service and if this understanding is correct, I find myself quite disappointed.

No. The link does not go to the actual form. A second click is needed...though for the vast majority, help is faster by posting.

I am not sure why you think a direct communication, not seen by anyone but you and the recipient, then discarded when resolved could be more transparent than posting in public and topics resolved, while they might be closed, are still availabe to be seen by anyone. But whatever you call it, both options are available...how could having one option, then wait in line, be anywhere near better than two options, and have a way to get help in minutes, hours or days, as opposed to waiting weeks for a help desk reply? I don't understand such a complaint at all.

Transparency is regarding that up-front there is only the GetSatisfaction option... the contact form is no longer mentioned anywhere. I would never have thought to look for a direct contact-us form for IMDB somewhere on an third party page... and it's not communicated. That is not transparency...
People are being funneled to the forum, I get that... But instead of blind funnelling, why not be transparent and show the contact_us form up front and give people the choice.
Myself, my question was not destined to the public, and would have been better dealt with by staff, instead of wasting your time here.
I'm sure none of this your doing, that's why I always prefer staff contacts for such issues.

If not, and you used a different account to send the message, they won't reply. Also, it usually takes a while to get a reply as there is usually a backlog of messages to staff. It should give you a warning about how many people are in line ahead of you.

Yeah, that makes it tough. Use the one I just posted, and in the mean time, maybe a staffer can come by and let you know what to do.

By the way, did you check your email you registered with, and see if there's a message from them regarding the block? If you don't see it, check in bulk or spam mail box. They might have blocked it because they thought the account was compromised, with the activity from Australia, and maybe they just need to re-set it with a new password.

Good luck...kinda sucks. But if they did it for safety and out of concern it'd been hacked, I guess that's a good thing, in the long run!

Yeah they didn't email or anything. Its really irritating because I need it for work! I hope a staff member sees this soon, they haven't been very helpful so far! Thank you for your help bluesmanSF!

Hey Guys, My Account was blocked as well out of blue. No Idea what happened. used it on iPAD last, then went back to PC and could not LOGIN.

OMG!!! its been 2 year and none of them came to help you..  i have same problem. i have been member of IMDB since 5 year but this act of them make me mad so much.. if they dont return my account i wont use IMDB or amazon anymore...i vow it

I demanded that my birth date be removed as per the new law that went into effect 1/1/17. I had received an email from them saying they would deal with this after 1/1 and it contained a link to return to my communication regarding my request. That link now just goes to the Forum page and I find no way to contact them about this. I believe they are in violation of the law. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
