My acting credit is going to a producer with the same name. What do I do?

Imdb changed the original credit from my name to my newly assumed professional name. I knew for sure there were no other sag actors with my stage name via the professional name application through sag, however it  foolishly never occurred to me that there would be someone in production with the same name on imdb. Getting a response from the help desk seems to be next to impossible.  Any helpful suggestions on how to self correct this problem would be greatly appreciated!

How was this change done? DId you submit a Name Correction to your Name page, or did you just change the name on the credit? Was your previous name Gabriel Alec Whitney?

What you need to do depends on the replies to these questions.

Thank you for responding.
The change was to the credit.  Yes my previous name was Gabriel Alec Whitney. I was taft-hartleyed when I got the part and changed my name when I joined Sag.
I actually got a response from imbd just a little while ago explaining that would look into it but if production submitted my credit as gabriel alec whitney then that is what they must post.
I was completely ignorant as to what a taft-hartley or an imbd credit was the day i did the scene.
It's completely my own fault for not knowing what I was doing and doing it anyway.  I just want to move forward with myself not confused with alec whitney the producer.  Thanks again

I would suggest fixing this i two stages.

1) Move the credit back to the Gabriel Alec Whitney page. You should include an explanation that the move was made in error, and that you will be changing the primary name once the credit is restored.

2) Once the credit has been restored, you should submit a Name Correction to the GAW page.

A couple of notes on this item:
a) You should enter the desired name in the internal Surname, Givenname format.

There is currently a Whitney, Alec (II) that has apparently just been added to the database.

If you created that in trying to change your name, you should merge the Gabriel page with that one; otherwise you should submit your new name as Whitney, Alec (III).

I assume your name was listed as Gabriel Alec Whitney in the on-screen credits, so you should leave the check in the box beside Preserve previous name on existing credits

Finally, in the warning message about similar names, you will need to select the last item:
This is a
different person not currently listed - create 'Whitney, Alec (III)'.
In spite of what it says, this will just change the name, not actually create a new page.

Good luck

Thanks for the detailed answer. I explained it was a mistake and asked them to move the credit back to Gabriel Alec Whitney. I also merged the Gabriel page with the Whitney,Alec (II) page and left the  preserve previous name on existing credits box checked. The name Whitney, Alec (II) was not listed on the list of similar names so I selected the this is a different person not currently listed- create Whitney,Alec (II).  I hope it works out right. Thanks again
