My profile has been merged with another actress, and I need to separate it asap.

My profile has been combined with an actress in error. I need to separate the pages immediately, as I am now credited with two projects that I was never involved in (one of which is detrimental to my profile - it contains inappropriate content). How do I separate my credits from this other actress?

I am able to provide a spotlight link to prove the credits I have been involved in?

Someone may have done a "merge" but it would not work to do a "split" as all credits are for the same department (actress). So, you'd have to correct the credits on the two titles' pages. Click the yellow "edit page" button on the pages for those two titles and change the cast credit to your name as it should appear in IMDb. It will cause a page for you to be rebuilt. It would be helpful to avoid confusion with other actresses, to add as much info as you can, like a bio, head shot (which requires an IMDb Pro subscription), photos, links, etc.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'll also flag up my previous solution - you can do a name split but it might be worth seeing if staff can reverse what seems to be a name merge (I seem to recall that they've done this before):

Thank you both so much for your responses.

To be honest, I have looked into these solutions previously, and my credits have remained linked to this other actress for months. Nothing has been amended.

I have been trying to contact imdb for such a long time, I feel this is all a little overdue.

I will have another look, but I really can't afford to wait another two weeks to see no change take place..I cannot be implicated with this other actresses '20 year old virgins' pornographic footage.

Thank you again for your helpful comments. At this point I hope a staff member can help further!

Thanks so much :)

OK I see the problem:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4546065/

The real mystery is why they'd even merge in someone called Jessica Megan Young, probably more likely is that "Jessica June" pops up as the most likely option when people add credits (although even then it is a reach).

If you can answer a few more questions we'll see what we can do to resolve this:

* Are your credits for those two projects actually for "Jessica Joseph McDermott" or "Jessica June"? Naming the entry different to the name you have all your credits under is going to cause confusion.

* When you say "I have looked into these solutions previously" does that mean you've submitted corrections to the two credits that aren't yours? If so can you supply the reference numbers for them so staff can look into this?

* Is that your photograph?

This should be a relatively easy fix.

Hi there!

To answer your questions:

1. The credits for 'Crownies' and 'Carlos Gustavo' should be under the name Jessica June - that is my stage name (and the name under which I am credited for all TV/stage/film work).

See my spotlight link for further clarification: http://www.spotlight.com/interactive/...

2. Here are all references for my submitted corrections:

- 130604-204100-687000 (4/6/13)
- 130609-163954-778000 (9/6/13)
- 130609-164146-311000 (9/6/13)
- 130609-164612-472000 (9/6/13)
- http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/thread?t... (Message to IMDB Help-Desk: 20/6/13)
- 130711-162442-412000 (11/7/13)
- 130723-152327-429000 (23/7/13)
- 130726-140750-352000 (23/7/13)
- 130726-180954-098000 (26/7/13)

3. That is not my photo! That is Jessica Megan Young.

Thanks again for your help!

Ms. Joseph-McDermott:

Please be aware that we did receive your helpdesk request but were unable to reply because you deleted your account. Our helpdesk requires users do log in to access their correspondence

I'll summarize our response here.

1) Our editors are aware of the problem, which was triggered by your request to change your professional name to "Jessica June". Since there was already a Jessica June listed on the site, this caused the two filmographies to be merged (please be aware that the fact that this would happen was highlighted by a warning on your screen when you submitted the name correction).

2) Our editors are in the process of undoing this. I would recommend you stop submitting further changes because they are likely to conflict and interfere with our own updates

3) It will take at least an additional week for changes to be reflected on the site, since a new name page needs to be re-created.

Thank you for your patience.

Dear Giancarlo,

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I will stop submitting further changes, as you request. My apologies for this. I had seen no change, so I became quite frustrated and thought to keep submitting until I had some sort of response...As I mentioned earlier as part of my submitted 'changes' - this mistake has led to further complications in acquiring new representation (due to the nature of the '20 year old virgin' credit).

I deleted my account after waiting a month for a response. Although this didn't solve my predicament, as can be seen.

I will do as you say though, and have patience! I appreciate the contact Giancarlo.

And I really thank you for your time.

Yes, I'm afraid submitting data to IMDB requires patience - being impatient can, unfortunately, make the whole thing take longer. Ah well, it is sorted now. If you have any other problems, you know where we are.

Yes, Jessica June (II) has now been created. However, it won't show up in the normal search until a credit is added to it.

Since the other person was the first one to be listed as Jessica June, she well be listed as (I) and you as (II).

The credits should move over in the next few days. Note that a credit may 'disappear' (be removed from the current one but not show on yours) for a while during the moves. Don't worry if this happens; it is quite common.

The name page needs to be created before anything is moved, as the credits are like a bridge that needs to be attached at both ends - the Name and the Title.

Thank you so much for your reply David.

Can I ask why I am listed as Jessica June (II)? Obviously, I understand that there is another Jessica June (I) listed.

If I were to request the title Jessica June (no numeral, or the I), would this be possible? ie. would I need to sign up to imdb pro for this?

Also, how will I link my account to Jessica June (II) now?

Apologies if these are daft questions.

Thank you so much for your time.

See David's second paragraph above. The first to be listed becomes (I), second one (II), etc.

Pro would not change that. The is, however, no significance to the numerals other than making names unique to keep credits together. So, it really should make no difference to you.

As I stated in the previous post, the first person to use the name on IMDb is given (I), the next one (II) and so on.

The Roman Numeral is there only to distinguish one person from another; it says nothing about their fame, the quality of their work or anything else. IMDb assigns them in order of the arrival in the database, partly so there won't be any argument over who 'should' be (I).

Once there is more than one person with the same name, every one of them will have a Roman numeral. The only way to get the name with no Numeral is to persuade Jessica June (I) to change her name and hope that nobody else uses Jessica June as their primary name.

There is no change in the way you submit information: you simply use the complete IMDb name. Where before you would have used Jessica June you just enter Jessica June (II) or in the update forms in the internal format June, Jessica (II).

Don't worry about being (II). If you check the name Emma Watson you will find that the one who played Hermione Grainger in the Harry Potter movies is actually Emma Watson (II)
