Some time ago, I discovered an actress whose works were divided between her main name - Yuri Sato (III) and an alias - Umi Hinata - as two separate entries. I put in a request to merge them, which seems to have worked (the titles previously listed under 'Umi' are now under 'Yuri'). Yesterday I was adding a movie entry, and didn't realize that it was under her alias, Umi Hinata, as well as several other actresses in the movie. The actresses entry provided several options based on this spelling, including "Umi Hinata" (it didn't have any Previous Works listed in the entry on the title entry page, unlike the other actresses). I selected this entry and clicked to "Re-check these updates" and saw a page with the message:
Adding a New Title
By the action of sending information to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) via this form, you declare that the submitted data is correct to the best of your knowledge, not copyrighted by a third party and you hereby give the IMDb permission to use it.with a "Continue" button that returns to a blank New Title page. This is very frustrating because there is no indication of why it happened (similar to a too-long title for a movie), the update simply doesn't work. When I correct the actress's name to the correct base-name (with "as Umi Hinata"), the new title process continues normally.
