The Name Page is suddenly ignoring the preference option for "Display acting credits separately for Movie and TV".
Until just recently It used to split up credits into separate sections for Television and Films - now they are all listed together which is not so good.
The preference option is still on the user account section and is ticked. But is being ignored.
It it a temporary problem?

I am having the same problem and as often as I use the site it is really bothering me. As far as I know, I haven't changed any settings.

I am having the same problem and my settings are the same. It's frustrating and annoying to have to sift through the combined information when trying to find something.

Alan and Chris,
On https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb...
Try:
1. Uncheck "Display acting credits separately for Movie and TV".
2. Clicking update.
3. Check "Display acting credits separately for Movie and TV".
4. Clicking update.
If that does not work, try logging out and in again.
You may also want to try clearing your cache.
I was unable to replicate what you reported. These are my Site Preferences [https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb... ].
This is what I am seeing for Joseph Gordon-Levitt [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330687/ ].

Dan,
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure about the others who dittoed this problem, but I'm actually talking about the "old" style page layout..
on my Preferences in the "General" section, I have "Show Reference View (old title/name page layout)" ticked, which your example does not. So perhaps the problem is only occuring on that layout.
Last weekend it was working fine with the TV and movies separated. This weekend they are all merged together.

I have the same problem, using Reference View. Tried turning the option off and on, logging off and on and resetting the cache, but none of it worked.
I've also noticed that the top of name pages sometimes become crushed, displaying birth date (and death date, if applicable) over several lines, like this:
Date of Birth:
31 January
1959,
Adelaide,
South
Australia,
Australia
Instead of just
Date of Birth:
31 January 1959, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia See more »
I believe these things happened about the same time...

Alan, Chris and cartman_1337,
I'm seeing the same problem your reported for the reference view. Film and TV are no longer separate when "Display acting credits separately for Movie and TV" is selected.

Reference view no longer separating TV and movie credits.
Why is the reference view of actors no longer respecting the setting of separating movie and TV credits from my user profiles? All acting credits are listed in one bulk no matter which setting I choose now. It wasn't like that a couple of days ago.

How about it Michelle, what's being done after 13 days? And why did you balkanize the help forum? Why do we have to go on a treasure hunt to find this hole in the wall? More than likely many more people are experiencing this problem but can't find where to report it.

Why can't I view seperate tv and film credits anymore?.
This was a feature that apparently just dissappeared. Before I was able to go to my account and site preferences, and check a box that said something to the extent of "view seperate listings for tv-series and movies". Now this seems to be gone, and whenever I look at any profiles, their tv-series and films are mixed.

Same problem here, I'm using the old title/name page layout as well and the name page isn't displaying TV and Movie separately.

I'm having the same problem. I unchecked that box in my preferences, saved it, then rechecked it and resaved it. That fixed the problem. But it just came back a few days later. How do I fix it permanently?

Same problem here, too. I've unchecked and re-checked the box, but both movie and tv listings remain combined. Glad I found this thread, and that it's being looked into.

My display preferences haven't worked for almost two weeks now, and I also see combined results though I have "display acting credits separately" checked. I've tried every suggestion here and then some. Please fix this; I can't stand these combined results. Oh, and I also use the vastly superior "Reference View."

I have even tried checking the box to remove tv listings. It had no effect. It just kept showing mixed tv/movie listings on "Reference View".

I hope IMDb fixes the problem. Please separate the credits into two groupings - Movies in one group and TV programs in the other.

Is anyone working on this? I'm tired of having to hit the "combined" link every time I view a performer page? Does anyone care that the site is broken?

I noticed this about a week ago. I've always preferred the "reference" view as much easier to read and navigate. I can get the separated listings if I turn off reference view, but can't get them in reference view. I've tried turning the separated listings option off and then turning it back on, but it still won't show in reference view.

It's now been 14 days since Michelle was going to tell the technical staff about the problem. Has the technical staff been working to solve the problem since then? It is so much easier to view the movie credits separate from the TV credits. Please bring us this feature we used to have.

A friend of mine unable to open this site has asked me to post his comments on this subject. Here they are...
"I've been an IMDb member for eight years and I've never seen this level of disregard for the legitimate complaints of the 'unpaid' members. Apparently 15 days isn't long enough to simply separate the TV list from the Movies list on an actor's credits page? Why could IMDb not leave well enough alone? They've taken a good, easy to use, useful format and made it complicated and difficult to use. If they are not going to switch it back to separate TV and movie actor credits, then they should come right out and admit that."

I'll tentatively say I think it may have been fixed. Although there's been no official feedback via this topic to alert us of this.
I used it today and was pleasantly suprised to find it is correctly going directly into actor's lists in the "by Type" mode just as it used to.
Is it working normally for everyone else?
