The IPad app will not let me connect. Version 4.6.1. I'm using the iPad2 on iOS 8.1.2. It has been a problem since the last app updates the past 2 weeks. Ugh. The app is so much better than the web. Please fix this.

Same here for the iPhone 6
iOS v.8.1.2 and IMDB App v.4.6.1.
Major pain in the butt!
And no, you cannot do anything with the App, after choosing either "OK" or "Retry", doesn't do a damn thing.
My Watchlist & Ratings also show up as "0", though they're in the 1000's.
I cannot see my Account Info either.
Always something up with this App.

I received an update to this app last week and thought this might take care of the problem. No luck. After removing the app, rebooting the IPad and reloading everything again from iTunes the same issue persists. Hopefully something that works comes out very soon. I do like the app when it works.

Be honest about what? What does that even mean & how is that even relevant?

Ritean,

He's an internet troll (probably the worst ever) and is just posting nonsense in replies, like https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/imdb-not-letting-me-add-air-dates-to-certain-episodes-of-a-m...

Perhaps staff can delete his nonsense and block him (Painter)

I'm still getting this Network Error even after the latest IMDB App Uodate to iPhone 6!? Trying to rate episodes of a TV show, I can rate a few, and after 3 or so, page tries and tries to load the page for the next episode, and I get the dreaded text box message.

We are seeing many complaints about network errors, but we are unable to reproduce the issue on any devices on our end. We'd really appreciate any helpful clues as to why this is happening to you.

For those seeing this issue, have you installed any VPNs or set up proxies in your network settings? Ad Blocker apps work by modifying these settings.

While the app is showing network errors, are you able to see results-as-you-type on the search page?

In the Settings > About > Legal Information, does that page load?

No to VPNs, no to Set Up Proxies in Network Settings. No Ad Blockers. Yes, the Legal Information Page does load.

Thanks for the reply. No VPNs or proxies. The Error message pops up immediately when the app is launched. Also only a portion of the images show. The main image does not. After clicking ok the error box disappears. Then I am able to see possible results as I type in the search box. However, when I select one of the results, the app will not pull up desired selection and the error box reappears. When I click ok it goes into an endless search and will not pull up anything. Dead in the water at that point.

It's interesting you say this started happening 1-2 weeks ago. The complaints seem to have started with the 4.6.1 app released on Dec 17, and no users complained about this problem for the one day that 4.6 was out. Are you certain that you started seeing this problem before the 4.6 update on Dec 16?

Hi Mark, you are right. The problem started with the 4.6.1 app release. I try with the solution of set automatically the time and it work, but for some reason I need to set my time 10 minutes forward. Well for now just will wait for the next release. Thanks

Can you all confirm that your clock and time zone are set correctly in Settings > Date & Time? You can turn off "Set Automatically" temporarily to see what the system clock is set to.

EDIT: I'm fairly certain this is the cause of the network errors. I found a bug where before 4.6 we would adjust for incorrect device clocks by remembering how much it was skewed from the actual time, and correcting it when sending new requests. We must digitally sign requests to our server with a valid time, otherwise those requests will be rejected.

Make sure that your time zone is also set correctly. What matters is what time the phone thinks that the current GMT time is.

Also, it appears that you need to kill the app and start it again for the new time to take effect. You can do this by double-tapping the home button and swiping up.

This doesn't work for me. If I'm doing this correctly, from within the IMDB App, I go to Settings>TV Provider> try Turing OFF the Eastern Generic Time (so that my city displays), and then exit. When I do this, I get this other text box saying that "We're Sorry, IMDB does not yet Have TV Listings For Canada"? I can't see any other way on how to "change the time Settings from the App? I don't have a Date & Time selection on my v.4.6.1

Ritean,
You need to use the iOS Settings app... The same Settings app you tap on to set general system preferences. This is the "Settings" where you need to set your time to automatic to fix the network issue (see Marks post for exact steps)

That's what I thought, thanks, but since that didn't work out for me either, I thought I read it wrong and tried this method. Oh well, I'll have to wait for a App Update, but thanks!

Here's how to fix this:
1. Go to Settings > Time & Date and either turn on Set Automatically, or adjust the time and time zone to be the correct time.
2. Kill the app by double-pressing the home button to go to the app switcher, and swipe up on the IMDb app's screen (iOS 8). On iOS 7, the app has a red button to kill it.
3. Launch the IMDb app again. The network errors should be gone.

We have a fix for this but are unable to submit an app update during Apple's holiday shutdown this week. So the first opportunity to submit will be on Dec 30th, and it will take several days after that for Apple to review it.

Until then, you'll need to make sure your clock is set correctly. Having an incorrect clock would likely also cause an issue with some of your other apps as well. For our 4.6.1 app, it must be within 5 minutes of the actual time. Having the wrong time zone set will cause the same issue, since what matters is what time your phone thinks GMT time is.

Mark, this worked for me. But, I had to set the time as "Set Automatically" instead of setting it manually. Thanks much for the fix..
