I posted a new badge idea that I think could be good here: http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000040/nest/215407014?p=6
I feel it's a nice thing to have plus would make people want to seek out more films. The idea was that you could get a badge for having rated the entire filmography of a director. The Hitchcock badge, the Carpenter badge etc With each badge representing a different symbol connected with the director (shower curtain/blade for Hitchcock?) or even the director's face.
If that doesn't seem like a stupid idea, then the issue would be which directors get a badge? Perhaps the top 10 in the IMDB Top 250? Or AFI's top 10? Or start off with a couple and gradually do more?
If it isn't a stupid idea and would be considered then I'd recommend it only being for featured films - not shorts, music videos or TV episodes. Some things are difficult for film fans to seek out.
I don't think it would be too difficult to implement for the software dudes. Essentially (like the Oscar Highlight badges) they are badges that would consist of handpicked titles.
