Not able to update "original title" entry of the movie

I am not able to update  "original title" entry of the movie. The weird thing is that the submission keepgs getting approved, however the "original title" entry still stays at the old (incorrect value). I'm at a loss why it would happen: IMDb staff keeps "accepting" the change request, however no actual change to "original title" entry of the move.

For example, this title https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0174596/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas should have "Dlya domashnioho ohnyshcha" (1992) as the main title (correct transliteration from its Ukrainian original via translate.google.com), however it keeps staying at the incorrect (old) value of "Dlja simejnoho vohnyshha" (1992). I've submitted numerious entries for this, all got accepted, but nothing changed...:
* #190713-203823-210000

* #190518-143109-622000

The exact same thing keeps happening with this title https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3084244/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ov_inf which should have "Vbyvstvo u zymoviy Yalti" (2007) as the main title (correct transliteration from its Ukrainian original via translate.google.com), however it keeps staying at the incorrect (old) value of  "Ubiystvo v zimney Yalte" (2007). See example below
* # 190713-203033-717000
* # 190510-050402-686000

Also, one other pecularity -> when looking at the submission through contribute.imdb.com/contribution/XYZ: https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/190713-203033-717000, there is no way to see any details, you just get a notification "Details about your contribution are not currently available."  The only way to find details about the submission is to go to my own "History" https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/history and click on the submission.

Not sure what to do here - advice would be appreciated.

The only way you would see your submission is if you were logged in as a user from the USA.
You have made it the USA title, which is incorrect.

See here.

Since this is already a Ukrainian title, you would need to correct the main title, not add an AKA. This is what I see as a user from the USA. Your incorrect correction.

If you add an AKA for the Ukraine You may see both titles. One Large and One Small on the same page. Same as I do above. The correct way is to correct, not add an AKA. Someone will come along and possibly advise this incorrect method. Please do not take that advice.

Title corrections How to submit title corrections
  • A correction to a title must use our full title format, where the year is included in the title (as it appears at the top of the page).
  • If you are not familiar with our general title formatting rules (covering such matters as capitalization, word order, and year), they are here.
  • General title formatting rules (how to distinguish between TV titles, videogames, movies, etc.) can also be found here.
  • Rules for determining whether a title is a film, TV movie, or miniseries are here.
  • Primary title corrections can't be used to correct alternative titles. They are separate entities. If you need to swap a primary title with an alternative title you can correct the primary title to the alternative title. The necessary corrections/additions to (existing) alternative titles are done automatically by IMDb.

With the above in mind, please see these instructions on how to submit a primary title correction:

1) Scroll to the bottom of the title page you wish to update.

2) Click the yellow Edit Page button.

3) Near the bottom of the following page you will see Title Correction.

4) Select the option "Add correction" followed by Continue.

5) Enter a new title text, making sure to also include the year, for example "The Matrix (1999)"

6) Also include an explanation to help our editors review this for you.

7) When finished, click Check these updates

  • If there are no issues, the box will turn green and you can click Submit these updates.
  • If there are problems with your update, the box will turn red and you will need to address these - once finished click Re-check these updates again.

Thanks for your help Ed Jones (XLIX)! That's the weird part -> I did indeed also tried to submit the corrected title through "Title Correction" (and not the "Add AKA title") and yet the old (incorrect) title keeps staying as the main title. Hence my total confusion as to why it is happening.

Are you using the top or the bottom choice to modify a title?

Also since it is already submitted as an AKA It cannot be used as a Main Title.
I believe an IMDb Employee would be needed to override any submission for a title correction.

The second title cannot be corrected either, because someone has submitted the correct Ukrainian Title as an AKA USA Title which is incorrect.

I think I know who has done this correction incorrectly. There is a possibility that iot is the same person that made the mistake on the first title.
There was a rather heated discussion about this fooling around with AKA's as a workaround to what is actually called for. A misinterpretation by another contributor. Hopefully an IMDb employee reaches out to this particular contributor and instructs them of the proper ways and rules regarding title corrections. When the use of an AKA is appropriate vs an outright title correction.

Both USA AKA titles should be in English, not Ukrainian.

Hi both,

I'm looking at the 2 titles and now both seem to be correct according to the original post unless I'm missing something?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0174596/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3084244/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ov_inf

Thanks,
Will

Will, the Ukrainian Titles are Showing OK if you are logged in as user from the USA.
If logged in in the Ukraine it shows the misspelled titles.
According to the edit page, you cannot make a correction if the correction is already an AKA.
Also those two titles have no USA release. So if the USA aka's were removed they should be able to be corrected.
Also you should reach out to the contributor that AKA'd them with a Ukrainian title for the USA.

Or am I missing something.
As Mike the Whistle says, "This is making my head explode"!!!

The only Ukrainian alternate titles listed on these titles are in the cyrillic alphabet, so this wouldn't refer to the latin letter transliterated title.

Thanks,
Will

Hi Will, thanks for you quick reply and help!

I can confirm that someone on IMDb must have fixed this issue in the past couple of days - I can now see the correct title under '(original title)' for both movies (see snippets):

Please feel free to mark this as solve. Thanks again for help!!!
