IMDB kindly removed an offensive and inappropriate review from our film 21 MILES but have left the low score attached to the review. Can you please remove this score also? The remaining scores do not add up as it stands.

IMDb doesn't delete scores, you can vote on a movie without having reviewed it. Averages are weighted rather than being straight means so if the person is a genuine troll (e.g. only joined to hate on your film or votes everything 1 or 10) such votes will have a minimum affect on the user score. Personally I think that people with abnormal voting patterns should be discarded (with criteria for being an "acceptable" voter being undisclosed) but the weighted average is the next best thing.

Galen and Richard.
IMDb uses a weighted average formula that is secret.
Both of your concerns are addressed in this system.
Patterns in voting are buffered on the extreme ends of the voting spectrum.
That way those hater or homer votes don't actually count numerically as much toward an actual average count. It is an "Adjusted" average.
And Richard. IMDb does not remove single individual votes.

The racist rant has been taken down but not the score associated with it unfortunately. Which does seem unfair.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your post.
As mentioned by Ed, our voting system already detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database.
Our voting system is continually improved in this respect so you can rest assured that abuse is always automatically detected and thwarted.
Thank you for your support.
