One of my actress credit corrections for Blockers was declined

In update 181222-020625-539000, one of my actress credits was declined due to lack of evidence. Note, I have no special knowledge of this actress. I just find it difficult to believe that a child actress suddenly starting using a name that previously had not been used and bears no resemblance to their previously used name. I think it is more likely that the actress was recast after IMDb received the cast list and then a data editor added the actual credited actresses name as an "as" attribute. Here's the credit.

The credit in questions is for the character Julie 12YRS (note the character name needs to be character as well as it is currently Julie (12 Years Old) and that isn't correct). The credit is currently to Audrey Casson; however the credited actress is Amelia Oswald. There is an existing Amelia Oswald, who may or may not be this actress, in IMDb but I find it hard to believe that Audrey Casson is credited as Amelia Oswald for this one credit. Anyone have any insight in this?

Hi, Adrian. If you have a copy of the movie, you should theoretically be able to confirm the appearance of the character by evaluating the scene in which she appears. Does she look like Audrey Casson? Is or isn't she portrayed by such an actress? Just to note, as a side note, it might be within guidelines or even preferable to represent "Julie 12YRS" as "Julie 12Yrs" or "Julie 12yrs".

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your post.

We list our filmography section based off a titles end credit sequence, if there are errors within - these will also appear on IMDb. In this example. the role was played by Audrey Casson, however the credited name was Amelia Oswald (potentially due to a late casting change).

As a result, we'll list the credit on Audrey's page - but must include the attribute (as Amelia Oswald) to reflect the credit roll error. I have also updated the character name now.

I hope this helps.

Wouldn't it make more sense to split the item in two, though? Such as one with the attribute "(uncredited)" and the other with the attribute "(credit only)", both sharing the same character name but having different performers linked?

Perhaps we need a trivia item on both Blockers and Audrey's page to explain this because I'm sure it will confuse future data editors.

Also, there is currently a problem. If you type in Amelia Oswald (who does appear to be an actual actress), IMDb's first suggestion is Audrey Casson. In most cases going forward, this would not be true.

My only concern was whether the credit was actually correct because visually, it does not appear to be correct.

Hi both,

Thanks for your responses.

Unfortunately, due to the way in which we list our filmography - situations like this can occasionally occur. However to remain consistent across to the database it's necessary and the AKA will generate for Audrey, this cannot be removed.

Adrian, you are right in that a piece of trivia on the name and/or title pages is a good idea.

All the best,

Joel
