I've been seeing opinions in the Parents Guide. This seems to be increasing lately. I thought the Parents Guide was for facts about what was in a movie, not for people's opinions on how something will effect them.
For example, on 'American History X' Parents Guide, this is included in the 'Violence & Gore' section: "This is extremely disturbing and I can guarantee that it will disturb every single viewer." As well as, "...this scene is so upsetting it will negatively affect all viewers no matter how mature they might be."
These are statements of opinion, not of fact. There are a few of these kinds of statements in that page, which I think should be removed, since they aren't providing information about the movie but rather the opinions of a viewer.

Hi Drew,
As you point out, this is the guidance that IMDb provides regarding the Parents Guide:
I interpret this phrase as opinion rather than a fact:
I have not seen the film, so I do not feel qualified to update this Parents Guide. If you've seen the film, I recommend discussing your concerns on the message board of 'American History X' before modifying the Parents Guide.
Note: I am a long time user of IMDb and not a staff member. This post is my opinion and should not be construed to be IMDb's official position.

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120586/parentalguide
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

This is extremely disturbing and I can guarantee that it will disturb every single viewerAs such the statement should probably be rephrased to be more factual and neutral.

The movie Indignation (2016) has the comment:
"Since the scenes do not contain much detail, and are implied mostly through the character's facial expressions, they can be suited for an older teen audience."
and that seems to be subjective, not objective. I have not seen the movie but I assume it would be appropriate to remove that comment. I won't so if I am wrong then let me know so I will know for the future.

If the statement is an opinion, which your quote was, then I believe it should be removed.

It is not clear whether I should create a new discussion specific to a different movie or if it is better to post here about the movie Phantom Thread (2017). I am watching the movie now and decided to check the ratings. The Sex & Nudity part is large yet there is very little nudity. So I noticed a lot of opinion such as:
- In Reynolds' mind, perhaps, there's some confusion between the two.
- He clearly misses his mother dearly and seems to long for mothering as much as he does for romantic attachment
- Reynolds may not be the only one who harbors a certain incestuous affection.
- Cyril's seeming jealousy of Reynolds' "muses" hints that, perhaps, his sister longs to be the only real woman in Reynolds' life ... though the implications of this longing remain veiled.
- Any suggestion that she may have romantic inclinations toward her brother remain just that-a suggestion.
- Reynolds and Alma, for their part, definitely have an intimate relationship, though that intimacy occurs behind closed doors here.
- They kiss and hug, and each can be quite jealous of the other.

Those are more like a review in my opinion. By all means open a new thread. Also reeks of spoilers!

I cannot edit the Parental Guide, so I can't remove it. Whoever included those statements broke the guidelines that IMDb clearly explained, but yet IMDb won't do anything about it.
