This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: ATS: Support for "OR" searches in genres / countries and other fields

in the advanced search they used to support using the | symbol between genre's in the search.

now that gives me a an error. If I want to see all the movies in all genre's that meet my criteria I need an OR | not an AND &

please bring this feature back, I used it often. if I select all the genres by checkboxes it only shows me movies that fit all the genres which is NONE.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, the search you are trying to run with the '|' is no longer supported by IMDb.

You can try our 'Advanced Search' functionality to get the results for genres:

Though we cannot make any promises as to if or when we'll actually be able to implement your request, we do consider all feedback from users when making changes to the site.

That is the context he's speaking of:
"in the advanced search..." ('title' searches are the grand-central station for advanced searches. 'name' searches are rather specialized.
Genre-searches are busted, even for the most primitive criteria. Always were, and still are. It's also true even when a title is properly tagged.
