Outstanding Credit Issues

I am sad to say it but you have a better chance of getting changing a law through Congress then you do with these guys.  I THOUGHT that Amazon buying IMDb would make things better.  It hasn't.  I have many credits that I still receive residuals for and have sent them pictures of my name in the credits on the television and they still have me listed as uncredited.  I have a credit in pending status and the "Priority" level lists as "Platinum" and even says the oldest submission is July 19 but my submission (and confirming emal) says July 13th.  So, that too is a lie!  If you figure it out, please let everyone know! Once IMDb gets some competition,

Hi Adam -

I understand that you are reporting incorrect credit listings on your filmography page, however, we were unable to locate any recent credit corrections for the inaccurate "uncredited" listings you mentioned.  In order for our staff to take a look, can you confirm those credited titles here and include any available screen grab evidence showing your role credited on-screen?

Additionally, you mentioned an issue with getting a recent credit submission approved, I noted that your only recent submission from July was made on July 17th for the title "Mr. Mercedes" (2017), is this the credit update you are referring to (if not, please post the submission reference number here)?  Once we have the additional details about what exact submissions you are having trouble with our staff can take a further look.

There are many credits that are wrong and many that I have tried to "fix" for over a decade which might explain why you have nothing recent.  First off, thank you for taking the time to address the situation.  I am already happy that we may actually fix some things.  I will start with an easy one and see what happens.  I was a recurring character in the TV show HOMELAND.  I have tried to fix it but if you go to my page you will see that I have one episode listed and I have tried and tried to add the other. I have added a snap shot of my SAG residuals as proof.
One more, because this one kind of makes me laugh but it is still SO incorrect, it should be addressed.  Under the "SELF" section you have a show I was in called Arrest & Trial but you have me as COP KILLER....  As self... As if I am a real cop killer?

Anyway, I can go on and on about BIG MIKE, Drowning Mona, Whatever It Takes and on and on, jobs that I auditioned for, booked, shot, made the final cut and still receive residuals for, but you have me listed as Uncredited...  Let me see how you do with these 2 before I gather all the "proof".  It is time consuming and frankly, I have done it before for IMDb with no resolve.

Thanks again!

Cut and Pasted email from you from 2017.  Still not added.  SAG residual screen shot added as well.

Hi Adam -

Thanks for posting the additional information.

First, concerning the "Homeland" episode credit, I noted that this credit was not approved because our editors were unable to verify it, I checked the episode and noted that your name/role wasn't credited on-screen for the "Tower of David" episode.  Please keep in mind that if you worked on a title but your name wasn't credited, you will need to submit the credit with an "uncredited" attribute (for further details about this attribute please review our guide here).  I have now resubmitted this credit for you with the correct formatting, please see Contribution #180725-150747-792000in your Contribution History.

If you worked on other episodes of "Homeland" that are still missing from your filmography, please check the formatting of these episode credits and make sure to re-submit them with the "uncredited" attribute if your name wasn't credited on-screen.

Second, to clarify the "Self" credit listing for "Arrest & Trial", your credit is listed as a "Self" credit because the title is listed as a Documentary.  Most documentaries include appearances of famous people as themselves (i.e. being interviewed or in stock footage), but some also feature reenactments with actors portraying historical characters, these often incorrectly end up in the "Himself/Herself" listing (even though the credit will still list the proper character name) as a result of the title genre.

I've updated the title in question to include the reenactment keyword, this will update the credit into the correct section of your filmography once your credit is updated with a character name.  Please submit a credit correction for this entry and include your credited character name, as this will be required in order for the credit to display under the "Actor" section on your page.

I hope this information helps, please let us know if you have further questions or credit issues that need to be addressed. Cheers!

Michelle, you are my new favorite person!  Thank you for your attention to this!  So, in regards to HOMELAND, I have no idea why I am not in the credits, maybe it was opening credits and not closing and you missed it?  But that is negotiated and I should not have been!  As you can see, I am being paid for being in it and if you watch it I am in it, with Claire Danes, speaking back and forth.
Since I have you, what about a pilot?  BIG MIKE was done by Adam Sandlers Production company but it never made it to the air. I work for 11 days on it and I am listed as uncredited.  Others that I KNOW were extras do not have uncredited by their name.  I auditioned, booked, shot and spoke... Co-Star billing, but I have no way to prove it as I never got a copy because it never went to air.  What is your suggestion on how to fix that one?
Finally, I just completed 3 episodes of Queen Sugar, recurring and I will be back for season 4.  Also, Mr. Mercedes, which we have already talked about.  Do you recommend I just leave it all alone and let you guys add it when it airs?  If I add it, as you can tell with Mr. Mercedes, it doesn't seem to go up any faster (it's still not up).  The fear I have is that something like OUTCAST happens where I am in 7 episodes but it just started in the U.S. last Friday.  We shot it 2 years ago.  What do you suggest?  Thank you again!  I am assuming the AMAZON take over has allowed more staff because in all my years I have never received a response from a r"real" person, jsut a form letter telling me that I am doing it wrong. Thank you again!

Please see https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/i-worked-on-a-title-but-did-not-recei...

(uncredited) does not necessarily mean you appeared as an extra at all. It simply means your name is not listed in the credits; nothing more and nothing less.

Uncredited is not synonymous with "extra". It solely means that you did not receive an onscreen credit. For example, Patrick Stewart is listed as uncredited for The Wolverine and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. No one would consider Jean Luc Picard as an "extra".

Of course not, Adrian, but when casting sees UNCREDITED, that is exactly what they see.  That is what most in the business assume, unless the person has actual credits, then we just assume that IMDb has it wrong, again.

After contacting production we have figured it out!  It's a flashback!  I guess you don['t have a credit for that?  Instead of UNCREDITED could you put FLASHBACK.  I bet this happens a lot.  I am have been on the SAG Board for 13 years and had no idea actors were paid for Flashbacks.  Love to learn!

Yes, this is supported if the flashback uses footage from another episode.  The way to represent this in IMDb is to tag the repeated appearance with the (archive footage) attribute.  Please see https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/archive-footage/G4X4TVH6HXYBW8WM

If the flashback was shot specifically for the episode and does not re-use previous footage from another episode then (uncredited) is the correct way to represent this in IMDb.  However, instead you may change the character name to be "Policeman in flashback" for clarity since there's no on-screen character name [see https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/characters/GKLQVXKH7U8DATWX]

Our aim is to be 100% accurate and IMDb processes close to one million updates per week from contributors and industry members. Representing real world credits in a computer sometimes has challenges around corner cases such as these. However, we try to document our rules comprehensively at https://help.imdb.com/contribution and the staff team and experienced contributors are always here to help on Get Satisfaction or, since you are an IMDbPro member, you can always contact the staff team privately via the help desk system at https://help.imdb.com/contact

Please let us know if you require further help here.  We are sorry to hear you have had difficulties in the past and, if you provide the details, we would be happy to investigate any previous contacts to see how our processes can be further improved.
