Your parents guide has become ridiculous and therefore useless. It’s listing every time a character is kissed or looked at funny. How about just limit to actual sex and nudity!! It’s driving me crazy!!!!

Some parents are stricter than others, especially those with certain beliefs and similarities to Carrie White's mother.. So it's probably useful to mention anything that could be construed as sexual in any way. I've never seen any parental guides mentioning when someone is looked at funny, but listing kissing on the guide is understandable. I also used the parental guide as a child to avoid renting movies that would be uncomfortable to watch with my dad, so if there was a lot of kissing/making out I would appreciate the heads up when weighing my options.

Hi, David Douell. What is the URL of the parents guide with content of such a characteristic?

Hi David -

We understand not everyone will agree on what should be included in a parental guide, ideally we want to keep as much valid information as possible to allow people to make an informed decision, for example including kissing may be irrelevant to you but can be useful to others, such as how groovyvic mentioned above. You can review our Parental Guide policies here: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/parental-guide/GF4KYKYJA4PKQB32?ref_=helpsrall#

If you are seeing data that is factually incorrect on a parental guide then please report the item, choosing the most correct category, however, you shouldn't report an item if you simply don't agree it should be included.

I'm here for a similar reason I suppose, the parents guide for Hereditary, one of the comments is ridiculous with some hashtag propaganda thrown in but saw no way to report it, here's the comment:

"Full frontal male genital nudity including penis and scrotum. Topless female partial nudity only, genitals obscured. This is not what equality looks like; this is the censorship that is 'fear men, not see this'. #SaveAlexJones"

I am not a moderator or anything like that, just a beginner too. But I hope I have a useful comment.

Everyone is focusing on the "kissing" part of "kissed or looked at funny". It is my understanding that the parental guides are supposed to be facts, not opinion. The word "funny" is subjective, not objective. Anything like that is not appropriate, right? We don't know the specific details but I think it is appropriate to say that opinion is inappropriate.

As for too much detail, I certainly agree that things like men being topless is not useful but that is something that is considered useful. So we must live with things like that, but it must be facts, not opinion.

Generally parental guide submissions should be kept to a simplistic clinical description.

We used to be able to reorder the content of every section of a parents guide. Even though there was no guideline requiring the following, I would always try to put the most graphic and disturbing stuff toward the top and the least graphic and disturbing stuff toward the bottom, rather than ordering things according to on-screen chronology.

the parents guides are so bad that i am about to lose my children over one. which quotes manga comics in it. there's no separation between series or ova's so children's services are using it as a fact document when 90% is opinion. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1316554/parentalguide
sort it out.

Hi, Ajen Mitasuki. Why should we believe what you claim about that parents guide?

Ajen Mitasuki, only the items that accurately describe the contents of the OVA belong. I know that. You know that. Which of them do that, or alternately which of them do not? Last I looked, only one item claims to refer to the manga, but does it also describe the content of the OVA or not?

Ajen Mitasuki, when you make comments such as you did you need to be specific enough for others to do anything that needs to be done. Without details the comment is useless. If there is something that is opinion, not fact, then you need to specify what it is that is opinion, or at least that you consider opinion. I did not understand the initial comment; "a fact document when 90% is opinion" sure was not clear to me.

You need to get legal assistance with legal issues. If children's services are making unfair judgements then that requires proper investigation but there is nothing that people here can do about it.

I'm trying to contribute to a parental guide but after searching for an hour, I do not see where to do this.  I go to edit and it brings up a ton of lists, but I don't see one that is applicable to Parental Guide section.  For instance, in the new show "Sex Education" that just came out on Netflix, someone on there says there is no female genitalia shown.  however, I think it's important to know the show starts out with a girl on top of a guy having sex and is topless.  Where do I go to add this , or can I ?

Hi, Jeff Hansen. Might I suggest that you simply take a closer look? Each category has an "Edit" pseudohyperlink next to it. Upon clicking the link, an "Edit" button/hyperlink appears below each item in the category, and after the last item, there is an "Add an item" hyperlink.
