Please help me remember: A movie about a father and son...

Movie Title Help.. I am trying to remember a movie that I must have watched as a young boy or early teen. The movie is about a father and son who basically get the sun to pretend he was hit by a woman's car. The woman takes them into her home, you know, to help the boy get better because the father and son are homeless and eventually the father falls for the woman. she eventually learns the truth but I don't remember if they tell her or if she figures it out..
