Considering the tendency to review bomb movies of late, Captain Marvel being the most recent victim, I would propose the following.
IMDB institute a police where regular users cannot post ratings for a movie until the first 72 hours AFTER general release. I propose will allow a movie to better stand or fall on its own merits, with ratings more likely to be from people who have actually seen the movie rather than ones that are merely logging in and leaving ratings in order to further an agenda not directly tied to the quality of the product.

Hi Col - thanks for your reply. I am guessing from context that you mean to say this doesn't make sense? But can I offer the opinion that it would not stop anyone from voting - it would simply delay the procedure so that a movie could actually get itself out there and accrue honest feedback. But I would be genuinely interested in a dialogue to explore your position and data is fascinating to me. Unfortunately, tons of IMDb fans cannot stand to wait one hour after a movie has ended to write up and post a review let alone 72 hours. Haha.
