Poll Suggestion: 2008: The Year of Big Snub

Remember, 2008 was the year of "The Big Short", the subprime mortgage scandal and the resulting worldwide crisis that contaminated almost everyone's lives... and still do.

But even in cinematic terms, 2008 was quite a game changer.

First, The Dark Knight (2008) rose on the Top 250 at the expenses of an iconic mob movie, a fanboys' war prevailed for a few weeks, finally, a 1994 classic about hope and posters became officially the best movie of all time, and never knew a dethroning moment over the course of the last ten years.

But another uproar was to start when Heath Ledger's testimonial film failed to garner a nomination for Best Picture, despite being one of the most acclaimed movies of the year, the snub of WALL·E (2008) didn't help either. So it was established that for the next years, the number of nominees would be expanded to ten, to avoid a similar backlash.

This effort was laudable, sometimes laughable if you look at some nominations, but one should question why similar rules weren't applied for the other categories as it's hard to imagine that so many great contributions from 2008 movies failed to get an Oscar nomination. So...

In your opinion, which of these notable Oscar snubs of the year 2008 is the most shocking?

A great idea.

There is however, a small error: that screenshot says the name of a previous movie.

I also felt Brad Pitt was severely underrated, he was far more enjoyable in BAR than the epic bore Benjamin Button

Indeed, I never understood the love for Benjamin Button.

2008 Oscar is 10 years ago this year (they were handed in 2009), so this poll is specially timely.

Brad Pitt is okay as the boring heroic lead but he makes for a world-class doofus.
