Beautiful Boy (2018) - I was really upset that Timothée Chalamet didn't get an Oscar nomination.

I can't believe Eighth Grade (2018) didn't get anything; not even a screenplay nod! It was so well-written.

Highest rated? Then you probably don't need titles with less than 7.0.

FYC:
Burning (2018)
The Guilty (2018)
Mid90s (2018)
Three Identical Strangers (2018)
Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018)

I agree with Peter, there are several films in the list that look like dubious Oscar contenders, I would also keep the minimum rating at 7.0, and that is only to allow Crazy Rich Asians, Widows and Hereditary, which were mentioned as contenders in several categories to participate.

Also The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society was not on the Academy reminder list so no matter how good it was it was impossible to have it nominated for anything and should be out of the poll

There were 347 elegible films for awards this year, if we put a minimumnumber of votes of 1,000 the highest you are missing are:

Won't You Be My Neighbour - 8.5 IMDb 85 metascore
The Dawn Wall - 8.2 IMDb 81 metascore
Paddington 2 - 7.9 IMDb 88 metascore (and vouched as the years best by several critics)
McQueen - 7.9 IMDb 84 metascore
Burning - 7.7 IMDb 88 metascore
Three Identical Strangers - 7.7 and 81
The Bleeding Edge 7.7 and 74
Stan & Ollie 7.6 and 75 (and with award nominations in Great Britain)
The Guilty 7.6 and 83
The Rider 7.5 and 92 (which would make it the best film on the list, I'm surprised as I have never heard of it)
Shirkers 7.5 and 88
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms7.5 and 72
They'll Love Me When I'm Death 7.5 and 77
Blindspotting 7.4 and 77
Private Life 7.3 and 83
The Cakemaker 7.3 and 74
The Death of Stalin 7.2 and 88 (and a great film that could get my vote)
Bodied 7.2 and 75
Whitney 7.2 and 75
The Hate U Give 7.1 and 81
Museo 7.1 and 87 (A Great Mexican film that won awards in Berlin and that would be more seen if not for the bad luck of being released the same year as Roma)
Boy Erased 7.0 and 70

All of them are better rated than half of your list, which you could easily cut below Crazy Rich Asians.
Only The Old Man and the Gun would be missed I think as it has a high metascore and is Robert Redford's farewell.

Some of those have a 2017 year, though.

Indeed some are 2017, but they were all released in 2018 in California and thus were eligible for the 2019 Oscars. The complete list is here: http://cdlink.oscars.org/c/4/?T=NDk3NDMwMTA%3AMDItYjE4MzUyLWQ3OWM4ZDhmNGFjNjRiNWNiNzQwNTQ5M2FlNTcxM2...

Glad to be of help Dibyayan.

Will you keep the Potatto Peel Pie Society even if it was not eligible?

'Good poll, Dibby. My vote would go to 'Leave No Trace' or 'Won't You Be My Neighbor,' which were such big snubs.

May I suggest one edit? Instead of "highest" rated, because these aren't actually the highest, how about "highly?"

Which of these highly rated movies* from 2018 that missed a nomination at 2019 Oscars is the best?

You're telling me "8th Grade" and "Mid 90s" didn't get even a mention? That's crazy, actually crazy. I mean I know so many other movies deserved mentions two but both of those movies were so real and really hit for me. I almost feel like movies should have a cap for how many Oscars they can be nominated for as to give other movies chances. I mean some movies are in every single category, isn't three or four enough?

Could you link these two movies, please? I found them excellent, especially Annihilation, where Natalie portman delivers a fairly accurate performance with very well-achieved features of madness
