Once in a while, the interaction between two characters is so well made that the audience just can't get enough of it. Which one is the best duo synergy in TV series?

The list can be found here: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls091665147/

And if you're accepting characters from limited series, then Valery Legasov and Boris Scherbina from Chernobyl are a must.

Peter, I agree about Mulder and Scully 100%

But Niles and Frasier? They spent half the time tormenting each other. They never produced a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.
I'd go for Niles and Daphne first!!! That fits the definition better.

Walter and Jesse also went through ups and downs and even split up a couple of times. Were they truly better together? A case can be made for a no answer there. Within the narrow scope of the series and characters presented, yes is the answer. But no one on that show truly was better together. If just one character more had been created that actually embraced Walter or anyone of the others, then that character would have been synergistic. But Breaking Bad is all about broken relations. It's about people that "Were" better together until the drugs, greed, and money came along. The character relations are totally unsynergistic.

I'm going for how good they are as actors and characters together and how central they were for their shows, not how good friends the characters are. But I guess it's up to the poll author to define.

I thought this poll basically asks which of these acting pairs has the best chemistry.
So, it seems everyone of us has a different interpretation of the poll's question. :-D

If you look up the definition of synergy it does not mean chemistry.
Here is the definition.

Mulder and Scully fit this definition to a tee. Together they are greater than separated.
Peters other two are subjective fits.
Arguments as to whether they were better off separated could be made.
Also if either shows lost one of those pairings the shows would not have suffered.
Frasier would have been just as good if he had no brother.
Breaking Bad would have been just as good if Walter had no partner.
And an argument can be made that the show would have been better without Jesse.
Imagine Walter attempting to find a new Jesse type partner every 4 or 5 episodes for distribution of his product only to find out that there is no way you could ever find a trustworthy "Drug Dealer"
My observations are valid.
Synergy only applies to Mulder and Scully

Maybe synergy is not the correct word. With this poll, I was going for mihailo.razvigor's point, a pair or a duo that, independently of their good intentions or good relationship, they just make damn good entertainment for us viewers.
I have as an example Ragnar and King Ecbert, from Vikings. They are barely on screen together, but when they are I just keep asking for more (that's a personal perspective).
So after this trend of comments, I'm left with two questions:
Should I change the title, and put Chemistry instead of Synergy?
I never watched Frasier, so I don't have an opinion on that, but regarding Breaking Bad, I personally didn't like Walter and Jesse together; so, should I add both the duos from Frasier and Breaking Bad, only one or none?

In the meantime, I'm adding Mulder and Scully (:

Exactly. But we still have different views on it.
You see, if we look at (for example) Frasier and Niles from the perspective of the people around them (in-universe), then they don't have synergy.
But if we look at them as fictional characters from a TV show, then the synergy definition you presented definitely applies to them - the effect of them two together has a great effect on that TV show.

Breaking Bad would have been just as good if Walter had no partner.
Hot take!

You are free to think the shows would be as good without some of their most central parts, but I think in both cases the interactions between those characters are one of the most popular aspects of the shows.

If you have Mulder and Scully in a Poll...........Everybody else will be vying for second place! LOL
I have a poll that has Mulder and Scully as separate choices. Guess what? They were 1 and 2!!

Thank you for the suggestions, I was able to add two more options that had slipped my mind (:

My biggest problem with the links you sent and my own searches is that I don't know the shows personally, so I'm unable to make a well-thought decision. I can't add everything to the list, and I also don't know which ones to add, and even for the ones I know my memory often fails me :D

I guess I dug myself a hole with this one q:

Yep. This is too broad a suggestion.
From this poll idea it gave me an idea.
But I chose the 1960's which is more narrower in scope.
In the 70's you may need two polls Comedy and Dramatic.
This is the 1960s poll if you want ideas.

I just love Claire and Mitchell from Modern Family. Not only are they very funny together, but at times they can also be very endearing. I would like to nominate them.
