Martin Campbell. Without question. Riley Ace of Spies, Golden Eye and Casino Royal. That's basically the genesis of James Bond 3 times, each time done originally and magnificently. Riley Ace of Spies is my favourite spy show ever.

Good poll, Dibby. I think Mendes is the best director, in general, among these, but I haven't seen either of his Bond movies so I'm not sure who would get my vote. Hmmm... :) Who would get your vote? 

May I suggest one small edit? (Below in bold.)

Terrence Young made the best JB movies.  He molded Sean Connery into James Bond and created his persona for the role.  Made Connery a true star on the outside, because he already was a true star on the inside. From Russia with love was the best of them all because it was the ONLY one that was not far-fetched and over the top.  Just a good credible story.  They way it was going, I soon expected to see James Bond fighting aliens in space or on Jupiter.  They got so stupid for so long.  They finally returned to something credible with Daniel Craig.
