Hi Akash,
Welcome to the Get Satisfaction IMDb Poll section.

======================

You have missed the discussion thread's link.

In your case it becomes:

[link=https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/poll-suggestion-best-music-score-in-2016]Discuss the poll here[/link].

======================

Small editing in the intro:

2016 has been a great year for movies. Not just the writing or the cinematography, the year gifted us with many brilliant music scores.
Which of these films, according to you, had the best music score in 2016?

I don't think upper case letters are needed in those places.

=======================

FYCs:

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) (score, not the songs)
The Jungle Book (2016)
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Now You See Me 2 (2016)

It's not because I didn't personally like the film or its score, but I don't feel M S Dhoni deserves to be here.
But, I would definitely consider The Jungle Book in that case.

The limit is 35 options. You list has just 20 titles as of now. If you add suggestions provided by other members to you list, I think that will be good for your poll.

Btw, i am gonna vote for 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)', because I really love the score, specially during the WC 2011 final match.

My vote went to Abel Korzeniowski's Nocturnal Animals, though my favorite score of 2016 was Alice Through the Looking Glass (I didn't see it, but I listened to the score). Danny Elfman's work on that franchise is some of the most satisfying film music in recent history, even if the films aren't very good.

I haven't heard all the scores on the list though, most notably La La Land (which I'll see soon, alongside Lion).  I am really happy to see Swiss Army Man on your list though. I think Alice and Fantastic Beasts should be up for consideration as well.

My top 5 scores of 2016 are:

1. Alice Through the Looking Glass
2. Nocturnal Animals
3. Swiss Army Man
4. The Handmaiden (Ah-ga-ssi)
5. Fantastic beasts and Where to Find Them

Good poll overall, thanks for sharing! :)

I made a list of my personal favorite scores if you're interested: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls068032066/

Still might update it for the likes of Lion, Passengers, and Star Wars Rogue One once I see them, or one of the others I haven't seen yet (though I haven't heard much outside of those three films).

I checked out your 2015 list too, and I've gotta say, 2015's got nothing on 2016. XD The disparity between the two is really interesting.

Extremely sorry, mate. I completely forgot to reply you!

I loved almost everything from Moonlight. It's soundtrack was what made it different than the movies made about that community. The classical pieces of opera which were used for the transitions from one chapter from another, or even the one when Juan was holding Little in the sea..I cried at that scene every single time!

Apart from that, the scores that made the movies feel even better were The Handmaiden, Arrival and The Neon Demon, which are 2nd, 3rd and 4th for me, respectively.

Talking about your choices, I loved that you added Swiss Army Man and The Handmaiden. Both of these gems needed a lot more attention. I personally didn't like Swiss Army Man that much. But it's score was the highlight in my opinion.

I added the movies mostly based on the nominations it received at Oscars, Golden Globes, Bafta and other award ceremonies. That's why I had to add some movies Hidden Figures and Hacksaw Ridge which I didn't care about 'score-wise'.

I need to revisit the score for Moonlight. I definitely think it did a fantastic job of setting the tone, that's not in question. The thematic material just didn't stick with me upon first listen.

I thought the Hacksaw Ridge score was good, but nothing really particularly noteworthy. I haven't seen Hidden Figures yet either, it usually takes me a while to catch up because I don't see most films in theaters. I usually wait for it on DVD to buy it or check it out from the library to see if I want to buy it.

I have strong feelings about the Arrival score, though I'll spare you the negativity. And to avoid confusion, I'm not talking about the piece that bookends the film (the one at the beginning and end, respectively), because that wasn't composed for the film, it was written by someone other than the films composer before the film was made.

Overall, the options on your list are diverse and will probably cover most people's favorite scores of the year. So good work with all that. :)

I think Sing Street counts as a soundtrack, not a score. I could be wrong though.

I agree.. That's my mistake! I didn't realize it before as I was so much in love with that film.

Yeah, the music in that movie is fantastic regardless of what it's labeled as. I'm actually listening to it right now. XD

That indeed is my mistake. It's definitely the soundtrack that's great!

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but Sausage Party actually has a good score—especially the main theme by Alan Menken. If it's too late for an FYC, I'm not sure many people will mind its absence anyway though. X'D

I've also been giving Moonlight a more in-depth listen, and I'm liking what I hear, it just needs time to sink in. Still have to finish Lion and see Passengers.
