I agree with this statement.  I was going to post a reply and say that the 1951 film with Alastair Sim is the only one on the list that is any good.  I haven't seen or have watched on T.V. any of the other films on the list, except for "SCROOGED(1988)", with Bill Murray, and I'm sorry to say that, on a scale of 1-10, the film itself barely makes it to number 7.

Hi Brijesh Marand,

Welcome to the IMDb Poll message board. Thank you for your poll suggestion and thank you including a properly working discussion link.

I'm really surprised that no one has suggested this poll before.

Great Brijesh.

I found some Dickens films over your rating threshold that are missing from your poll:

A Christmas Carol (1938)
A Christmas Carol (1999)
Dombais et Fils (2007)
A Christmas Carol (2019)

Thank you for suggestions. Added first 3 of those, left out last one as that is not a movie

I enjoyed Little Dorrit quite a lot, that would be my choice.

Still haven't seen the Scrooge versions of Michael Caine and Alastair Sim, both of which are supposedly great by all accounts. I got both of them already, but who has time to watch so much stuff?

Please correct your question:

Which movie do you think is the best adapted movie from a Charles Dickens work?

I see you corrected it in the list, which is what I meant, thanks. You can't edit your post here, and it's not important for the poll.

I wish there were an adaptation of "A Tale of Two Cities" that was made some time after I was born, or at least after my parents were born :D

Hi and welcome to the poll board! : )

This is a very good poll and well constructed, especially for a first poll; bravo!

'Tough choice between a couple of the films but I think the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol; I love Charles Dickens.

I'm finding it odd that Armando Ianucci's recent film based on David Copperfield is not included. IMDb ratings are so weird, that ratings based polls usually annoy me because they exclude some current or relevant films. Also missing Mr. Pip (2012), which is based on Great Expectations, and is rated above 7 on the site. As it is, not going to vote in this poll. Might if there was at least an "other" or "none of these" option.

Well yes, ratings sometimes may not satisfy everyone. But, that is what it is.
And Mr. pip is not an adaptation of Great Expectations.
Also, you might want to put a suggestion or question for additional option.

Unfortunately, in every poll with so many possible options you need to find a way to leave out some titles as they can only accomodate certain number of options.

Ratings or number of votes are the two most common options and, since the poll is asking for the best film.

The best way was using ratings to decide which options to include, and while the most recent film may be missing, all critically acclaimed movies are there.
