The end of the Hollywood Studio System way of making movies was close at hand. But before that would start in full swing in the sixties, those big studios were cranking out new crime dramas weekly in the fifties. Well over 500 were made in the US alone in this period. Many are still loved by fans today.

From this list, which one is your favorite.

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls042748990/

Ed,

Please change the title from:
Best U.S. Movie Crime Dramas of the 1950's

To:
Best U.S. Movie Crime Dramas of the 1950s

1950's is possessive.
1950s is the proper form for the decade.

Done, Thanks.
Will you still need me, and will I have polls go live in 2054 at age 99?

Generally, very high quality films but if only one is allowed, it must be Bad Day at Black Rock

I would consider 12 Angry Men (1957) as a crime movie

It's not what I consider. It is the Genre Tag. It is a Courtroom Drama. Or in this case a Juryroom Drama.

Good poll, good list including several good films. My vote: On the Waterfront.

FYC:

Strangers on a Train
The Big Heat
Night and the City
Dial M for Murder
Rear Window: even though it's not classified as a crime drama, it is a drama and is largely about a crime, and you included 'Beat the Devil,' which is in the same boat, so to speak.

Oh, and 'great intro, by the way.

Could you just add a question mark at the end of "From this list, which one is your favorite."
