Julia Roberts originally wanted to be a veterinarian. When her brother, Eric Roberts, achieved some success in Hollywood, Julia decided to try acting. At the age of 20, she made her first big screen appearance in the film Satisfaction (1988). Only 2 years later she became known to worldwide audiences when she starred in Pretty Woman (1990). After her breakthrough she was the highest-paid actress in the world throughout most of the 1990s and in the first half of the 2000s.

In celebration of Julia Roberts' 50th birthday (October 28th), which movie featuring Julia Roberts is your favorite?

o.k...when i read the question, my mind said...'without a doubt...notting hill'...i really enjoy that movie...she was good in it, the storyline was better than average, and the chemistry between her and hugh grant was wonderful...

then i read your list...and was reminded of 'the pelican brief', a movie i absolutely love, but more for denzel and the political storyline, rather than for julia...

then i also saw on the list 'everyone says i love you', one of my top five favorite woody allen movies (and you know how i love woody)...but i don't think of julia when i think of that movie...quite the contrary...

and then there's the above mentioned 'satisfaction' (not even on the list)...i enjoyed it enough, primarily for the music, along with liam neeson, and yes, even justine bateman to some degree...but again, not because of julia...

so...even though there are movies i may have liked better than 'notting hill', it would still stand as my favorite 'julia roberts' movie...

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunally I can't choose all the movies, so with a 4.8 and only 2957 votes, I didn't choose Satisfaction (1988).
I didn't even know she was in a Woody Allen movie. That's great about making this lists, you get to know new movies and interesting facts.

I expect this film to be in the Top 3, I didn't like it much, especially the way her 'sexiness' was used, even overused. I wrote this about it:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0195685/reviews-520

I guess I'm still partial to Pretty Woman

Without looking at her filmography my first instinct is Ocean's Eleven.

I like several, but I'd still go with Pretty Woman.

I'm glad you did this poll. I think she's a good actor who grew in her craft considerably. She had screen presence from the start but I think she deserves a lot of credit for persevering through a lot of mediocre movies (not to mention claustrophobic paparazzi attention in the early and mid 90s) and honing her craft until she received better roles and was taken seriously. Long underestimated, I think she has evolved into an empowered artist who has proven that women actors are bankable.

I agree with you. There are many big actors who should be more selective in picking the roles, like Julia.
