This is nostalgia time, to the lucky ones whose childhood coincided with the 80's and those who had the luck to catch many re-runs in the early 90's, here's a selection of animated TV series (American, European, Anime etc.) whose intro songs* transcended the passing of years and are still hitting a sensitive chord whenever they listen to them. (If you don't remember any of them, you won't have a hard time finding them on Youtube)

Which of these classic TV animated intro of the '80s is your favorite?

*there's got to be lyrics, dude! No instrumental intros allowed!

although i'm of the age where i find myself still singing the theme song to 'magilla gorilla', of these newer themes, one does pop out immediately, which i must admit to having a penchant of bringing to my lips occasionally...

'...do do do do do inspector gadget...'

that gets my vote...

I might overplayed the 'generational' thing, my Dad knows pretty well the 'Inspector Gadget' theme and a few from my list (we have a few connected memories with the Gummi bears lol).

I think it's interesting that you can be familiar with your generation's cartoons as well as those that were airing when you were a teen or when your children grew up, as if it could skip generations. Right now, I can't get that damn Peppa Pig tune out of my head, and I enjoy Masha and the Bear :)

I think the 80's and early 90's were truly the Golden Age of TV cartoons not much because of the quality but also the diversity of TV programs. I associate the 70's with Hanna Barbera (Japanese Anime hadn't yet reached its peak) but what makes my childhood memories so treasured is that I also had these cartoons on TV, not to mention the Golden Age stuff (Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes etc.)

My vote:
DuckTales (1987–1990), woo hoo

2nd Choice:
Go, go, Inspector Gadget (1983–1986)
Some of the theme songs, I would like to forget. Thank goodness Barney and the Teletubbies were mostly live action instead of animated.

If you didn't already know what it was, Teddy Ruxpin doesn't even really sound like a kids show, lol...
Illiop Teddy Ruxpin (Illiops being bear-like creatures) leaves his homeland in Rillonia with his friend Grubby, an octopede, in search of adventure. They meet up with an inventor...

My favorite:  Il était une fois... la vie: the series and the song, even though I didn't know about either until a few years ago when I was in Europe.

May I suggest three minor edits?

This is nostalgia time, to the lucky ones whose childhood coincided with the 80s and those who had the luck to catch many re-runs in the early 90s; here's a selection of animated TV series (American, European, Anime etc.) whose intro songs* transcended the passing of years and are still hitting a sensitive chord whenever they listen to them. (If you don't remember any of them, you won't have a hard time finding them on Youtube)

You're so right, by the way: I found myself humming a couple of the songs, lol.
