Often a director will play an acting part in his/her film, whether it be major or minor. Other times, they will not play character at all. So, the question is, what acting role do you prefer the movie's director to play? I like it when the director stars in the movie. I like it when the director plays a relatively minor role. There are great examples of directors starring in their own movies, so I'll go with the first option.

There are probably also less great examples, but let's forget about those.

'Good poll!  For me, I guess it depends on who the director is, whether they have good acting chops, and whether or not they can direct well while still being in the movie, so FYC:

"It depends on who the director is."

The intro is very well written (bravo) but I noticed a little typo: there's a missing "a" in the below sentence:
