They have strong connections. Both were directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, and both star Ryan Gosling as a taciturn character who breaks into brief outbursts of violence. Both movies are slow, stylized, quite violent at times, without mich dialogue, and they feature Cliff Martinez‘ music.
