Poll: http://www.imdb.com/poll/H_71FN3QrQY/

Both films depict true stories about the newspaper, The Washington Post, publishing evidence about the U.S. government committing serious abuses of power. Both movies are set in Washington D.C. in the early 1970's, include the character of editor Ben Bradlee, reveal President Nixon's corruption, and illustrate the importance of the press and its independence. Which of these Oscar-nominated political thrillers do you think is the better dramatization of democracy, threats to it, and its protectors?

Hard Choice, I'm inclined to vote for: All the President's Men (1976)

ditto

FYC:
Maybe add something about The Post (2017) being about the Pentagon Papers and All the President's Men (1976) being about the Watergate Cover-up to contrast the two movies and the two big breakthrough stories that elevated the Washington Post to a national paper.

Both excellent films,  All the President's Men (1976) seems to be bit better. I think All the President's Men (1976) is more about getting the story, than the politics of publishing the story in The Post (2017). That focus alone makes it a more interesting movie, everything else seem a push when comparing the two. I voted All the President's Men (1976). Great face-off, by the way.

'Same here, Dibby. Although I did like 'The Post' and found it very entertaining, I think 'All the President's Men' is definitely the better film.

We were bound to have this Face-Off eventually. The Post isn't out here yet, so I'll hold my vote.

I just noticed your "Practice your right to free speech here" line. Very good!

Hahaha, thanks.

Oh, 'The Post' isn't out there yet? Had I checked that, like I should have, I might have waited on this one.

Voted for All the President's Men.  The Post is pretty powerful but some of the monologues are too glaringly Oscar baity and should have been edited better to not seem so... awkward and ham-handed, (making great points to their argument but yeah... awkwardly filmed and takes the viewer out of the moment story telling wise).
